Following is an excerpt from the document, Pastoral Care for the Road:
The exercise of charisty by drivers regards love of travellers whose lives should not be endangered by incorrect and careless manoeuvres that may cause harm to both passengers and pedestrians. The word “love” is used here to mean the many forms taken by genuine charity, namely respect, courtesy, consideration, etc. Good drivers courteously give way to pedestrians, are not offended when overtaken, allow someone who wishes to drive faster to pass and do not seek revenge.
Is this something that a church should guide people in doing?

of course. religion should not only be about worship or doctrine. It should also guide our moral life. otherwise, it is hypocritical.
God's LOVE calls us to love.

If your faith is important why should it not apply to the way you drive and interact with other drivers. I think think it is good if the good parts of religion can be applied to everyday life activities and not just feel good for showing up at church on the right days.
For Christians reading the beatitudes should give you an idea that christian charity is a full time job that applies to everything you do in the faith, to every person you meet.

Why not? After driving the freeways of Los Angeles for over thirty years, anything that helps is a good thing from where I sit. We just had another "road rage" shooting here last week (the second one in four days!), and it closed the Long Beach Freeway for almost the entire day as the cops investigated.

It is symptomatic. If the Church deals with driving scenarios it should really deal with every scenario where a person has to interact with others. Personally, I think the Church should teach people how to be good, kind, God honoring people. That type of lifestyle will impact their driving and every other social function.

Yes,given the numbers of people on the road at any moment as well as the numbers of people killed or maimed by accidents churches should be very interested in applying the Commandments( not kill, not steal) and the Beatitudes(merciful, meek) in cars and streets and highways.

Sure, why not? Living a Christian life is not just about Sunday...but about all aspects of life. Loving your neighbor extends to the road. People are dying on our roads due to road rage. If the Church can help by reminding people to take their Christianity on the road..I think it's very appropriate.

In my personal opinion, churches should avoid politicizing their message. They shouldn't endorse candidates or campaign for or against issues. They absolutely should never suggest to their faithful that GOD wants them to vote one way or another and that they're committing some sort of "sin" if they don't. As a Catholic myself I've seen more than my share of priests and bishops who try to turn their parishes or dioceses into lobby groups.
HOWEVER............It IS the job of priests and other clergy to instruct us on morals and ethics. It is their job to suggest to us how we might apply the teachings of Christ to our own lives. (This mandate, I think, sometimes leads them to think they need to expand their responsibilities into the realm of politics. So, it's a balancing act for them, and some do better at it than others.)
So I don't see anything wrong with the church using driving habits as an example of an area in which people can apply their moral and ethical teachings in a "real-world" setting. I've found that in most cases where a church has published some advice like this (in the church bulletin, in a sermon, wherever), the worst cime has been poor writing skills, leaving their motivations and message unclear.

Absolutely!
To encourage people to have moral behavior in all aspects of their lives is very appropriate for a church.

A real Christian should not have these problems. But if a Pastor thinks his flock needs to hear this. I think he would preach on Loving thy neighbor.
