I just bought this puppy about 2 weeks ago. Hes cute, adoring, and all but my husband and I are buying a new house and kinda want to keep it really clean and of course with the dog we wont be able to. We hardly even have time to spend with the dog and dont have time to train it. Every time I take him out for a walk, he wont go poop or pee. He only does that on his puppy pad and I just think he needs someone that will give him more time. I am going to begin working full-time next month and dont have the kind of money to take him to a daycare. What do you guys think I should do?

Find him another home, let him be adopted out. It is a shame that when people adopt dogs they feel like they are dispensable; its too bad, hopefully you will find him a home that is willing to treat him better and realize he is only a baby and will take on the responsibility accordingly. I really hope when you actually have children you don't have the same philosophy...they are way harder than puppies and they will tear up your house even worse.

You've only had the dog for two weeks! Give it time. You both need to adjust to a new addition. You CAN keep a house clean with a dog. You need to train him and make sure you clean after him. Before you start working full time, you and your husband need to start training him. See if there are family and friends that can take care of him while you are working. A puppy is hard work, but after training, it can be a really rewarding relationship and experience.

Plus, you obviously didn't think this through when you bought the dog. You need to think about these things. A dog is hard work. And now your in trouble because you absentmindedly bought a puppy. Now, this dog might have a bad life if you can't handle him. He could have gone to a much more prepared family. You better take care of him.

Well what kind of dog is it ??? big or small??? You should really try to crate train him that would be your best bet. Even if your not home all the time it doesnt matter the dog will still love you no matter what.. Another thing you can do is block of an area of you home and let him just be free in that area when your not home (a kitchen or large bathroom) this way if he goes when your not home it will be an easy clean up. And dont get rid of him that is just abuse, he didnt do anything to deserve it... also POTTY TRAINING TAKES MORE THAT 2 WEEKS... some dogs it can take up to 6 months so just be patient give the little guy a chance.

I think you should find a suitable home for the puppy. The most important thing for a puppy/dog is training. Training and socializing prevents a lot of behavioral problems including basic skills (sit, down, stay), aggressive issues, seperation issues, etc. Also if you're unable to properly exercise the dog you may end up w/ a bored destructive dog and there goes your new clean house.

Congrats on the new house.. I hate to say it..but find a home for the puppy.

Good Luck

I think because you find material things more important than your puppy you should find a more suitable family for him but don't advirtise the puppy in the news paper like its a car or take him to a shelter even if its no kill instead give him to somebody you know and know that person will take care of it and will love it. Also another tip next time you do get a dog, get a book on are you ready to have a dog and get a shelter dog not one from a breeder or a petshop.

Yeah a puppy requires a lot of attention and you have to take the time to train them also! So maybe an older dog would be better instead of a puppy for your new home and new career. I think you should consider giving it to someone who would have more time to spend with the puppy but do it before you get attached and the puppy gets attached to you!

Okay everyone, I dont like some of your answers. The way that you guys are answering is not right. I just wanted an opinion. Ist of all I am NOT ABUSING MY PUPPY, I love my puppy and realizing it, I cant sell him or give him away. With these past two weeks I have come to adore him and cherish him. I guess the way I asked the question wasnt right either. In our new home we will have a deck and a closed backyard where he can play. Where we live now, we dont have all that. Thanks for all of your thoughts and responses but you guys make me seem like im some dog abuser and a bad person. Im not!!!

I think you are making the right decision to give away the puppy without the proper training when the puppy grows into a dog there can be many problems and it seams that you don't have the time it takes for this process yes I agree with you just make sure he goes to a good home that will give him the attention that he needs as a growing puppy. Good luck

First of all, why did you buy the puppy in the first place. Taking care of a puppy does come with responsibility and a heart to care for the puppy. To me my dogs are a part of my family. Would you get rid of your own baby? Just think of it that way. Taking care of a puppy takes a lot of committment and work but in the end it is worth it. You'll receive loyalty and companionship.

Bottom line. Once you get beyond the puppy stage, your dog should give you joy and happiness. That being said, it's a two way street.

I don't know if it's simply the way you are expressing this, or if these are your true feelings. If they are anywhere close to your true feelings, you need to find a new home for your pup.

You pup deserves a home where it will be loved and the pup can love the family.

The BEST thing that you can do now, is to try to find THE best home for your pup.
