Although it doesn't specifically mention it, I believe that we should understand that Lazarus was buried too. The story is speaking more from the point of view of the rich man, so his death is given in more detail. Also, I think Jesus wanted to emphasize the difference between the two, in that Lazarus went to Abraham's Bosom and the rich man did not.
The original belief in the afterlife/Hades, and the way Jesus was explaining it, is that it is divided into two parts: Hell/Prison and the Bosom of Abraham/Paradise. This is not the same thing as the Eternal Heaven and Hell. Hades was a temporary abode of the dead's spirit while it awaited the resurrection. Obviously, the spirit is very much awake and conscious in this Spirit World, as can be seen by the conversations between the rich man and Abraham. However, it is only after the resurrection that we will enter our eternal destination.

Lazarus was carried to the bossom of Abraham. We don't go there anymore after Jesus died on the cross a lot of things changed. The rich man was buried because he was rich he had money for a burial/tomb. I believe when we die we go to heaven or hell no bossom anymore.

First and foremost, Jesus was saying this parable to the Jews in the synagogue (temple). The essence of the true meaning of this parable is not abt dying or burying. Remember at the end of the parable, the dead richman was in hell and asked lazarus to dip a drop of water to his mouth and asked lazarus to send someone to warn his 5 other brothers abt hell and not ending up there?..then what jesus said in the end is the real meaning of the parable. read it for yourself.
Jesus clearly stated there is heaven & hell. And the only reason that people go to hell is not that they are bad, but they had not believed that their sins & wrongdoings had been taken away by the lamb of God, namely Himself.

These are waiting places before the final heaven and hell. Where Lazarus and the thief on the cross went to is a place called "Paradise" and not heaven. Jesus said to the thief on the cross, "today you will be with me in Paradise" (not heaven). This word in the Greek "paradeisos" referred to a compartment of the afterlife which was thought by the later Jews to be the abode of the souls of the pious until the resurrection. This is the same place Paul saw when he died from a stoning, (but God later revived him) in 2 Co 12:4. It is also here that we will eat of the Tree of Life. Re 2:7
As for the rich man, note that Jesus did NOT say that he was in "Gehenna" (eternal hell). Rather, said that he was in "Hades", the abode of the dead.
As for the "buried" note. You will see in the Bible that often those who die in faith are considered "asleep". Those who die in unbelief are dead and buried. This is to point out that those that die in faith immediately are taken before the Lord, even before they are buried. No doubt Lazarus' body was buried, but Lazarus was not in his body--he immediately was taken before the throne. Whereas the rich man did not.
Good question. You have a sharp eye to catch the missing "buried" word for Lazarus.

The Bible is quite clear as to what happens when one dies.
Ecclesiastics 9:5,10 shows that when a person dies he is in what is like a deep sleep. Ezekiel 18:4 shows that as we are sinning due to the fact that Adam sinned against God, we have inherited imperfection. The soul does not survive as some separate being. The Hebrew word is 'Nephesh' (soul) and indecates that this is in fact the person ie: 'dear old soul'. John 3:16 "God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son" Jesus as a ransom for mankind. That is in fullfillment of Genesis 3:15.
Psalm's 37 helps us to see that the meek will inherit the earth to the glory of Jehovah (Psalm 83:18--God's name). John 5:28-29 show that there is to be a resurrection. Revelation 21:1-5 shows that death will be no more, and that the earth will be once again be a paradise as God had intended in the beginning. I hope this has helped, for more infromation please contact Jehovah's Witnesse's.

I don't know what happened to the poor who died, I think only rich people had graves. But the story is to illustrate the point that the rich man got all he wanted on earth, but as he rejected God during his lifetime he ended up in hell. Lazarus on the other hand apparantly didn't reject God and so went to heaven. It's a tragic story, showing that once you have died it's too late to realise that you had the chance to know God and go to be with him for eternity. It also warns against the danger of being rich, and thinking that you don't need God because you have everything you need.

The rich man stood for the religious leaders who controlled the knowledge instead of feeding the people to make them independant. A parent and a spiritual leader raises a child to be able to go out on there own. Christ sent the apostles out. He didn't keep them to get money and power. Hell in Hebrew means the grave or symbolically gravedom or death. Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing,... John 10:35 ...and the scripture cannot be broken;

The soul goes to the spirit world. If you have a good heart and selfless love you go to a brighter, more loving place in line with your own desire. If you are selfish and mean, you will choose a darker, colder realm. It's up to you where you go. You will choose through your own preferences/habits developed in your life on earth. I'll bet Lazarus had a good desire and the rich man was selfish.

It is showing the different rewards of where you will wind up when you die and you will die to life as we know it down here.But they we in the second life.Advice== get saved ,come to accept Jesus as Savior and that place will be heaven for you some day and if you just got to have your way and believe many other selfserving reglions and selfserving ideas then the rich man was saying how hot it is where you will go.Choice is your and yours alone. Make the right one. God bless.

ecc. 9:5,10 "the living are conscious that they will die. but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all"... ecc. 3:19,20 "they have come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust"
when you die, you do just that, you die. And you await the resurrection on earth talked about in the bible(john 5:28,29) Hell (Hades) is the common grave. And heaven is for only a select few. Gods purpose for humans was to live forever on earth, not in heaven. That is why when Lazarus was resurrected he was no mad saying "why did you resurrect me i was with God" rather he was happy, as well as his family, because his purpose was to be here on earth.
