I floss while looking in the mirror, and no matter how I do it, I always get bits of food and gunk all over the mirror. Does this happen to you? Am I doing something wrong? Also, I hate handling the stinky stuff with my fingers. Is that avoidable while using dental floss?

Won't I get bits of food all over the place (ie. on the floor, on the table, on people) regardless of where I stand?

Try rinsing with water before flossing. It'll get the bigger stuff out. I floss in front of the mirror also. Yes, sometimes it splatters on the mirror, lol. It's fine. It's the floss taking the gunk out. I like to run my 2 fingers gently down the floss before I start. That way it gets off the excess wax and decreases some the stickiness. But I just rinse my fingers after. Try experimenting with different flosses. I like ones that don't leave any minty taste. I find those sticky. Keep it up! =)

I wear a helmet with the visor down. A little difficult reaching my teeth with the floss, but I haven't had to clean my mirror in 13 years.

Use the Placker's flossers. It's like dental floss on a stick. Your hands never have to touch nasty stuff & you can reach the back teeth with no problems. Another tip, don't look in the mirror when flossing

try using the dental picks that way you don't have to touch the wet floss and it eliminates the flying gunk on the mirror.

Perhaps you should either place clear plastic, over the mirror or step a few feet away from it before brushing, flossing or gargling.
