In self defense, you use what ever level of defense that is necessary to protect yourself. The ideal response is not to kill someone. But depending on the circumstances, death could occur.

yep no problem. people who say no to this question do not treasure their own lives. if some guy tried to kill me I'd kill him I wouldn't hesitate to stab someoen 137 times with a pencil if that's all i had to defend myself with. or beat some dude into a coma with 52 strikes of the nearest metal object.

never killed a person, but came close a couple of times. Once I had to choke out an assailant who was stoned out of his mind. The man mistook my quiet demeanor for weakness. Bad mistake. He didn't die, but he was shocked as Heck when he woke up 45 mins later.
No, I wished I didn't have to do that but the long term goal of avoiding future violence was achieved. he never assaulted me again.

I almost did. I just didn't shove the knife deep enough. One more half an inch would have done it...Damn my luck.
Two Golden Glove boxers jumped me and my friend opened his knife and put it in my pocket. When the SOB came at me again we met in the middle but I had the knife in hand. It was thrown out of court as self defense.
That dude is literally crazy now. He's been in and out of mental hospitals all his life.
