Christianity is so right - so good - so loving. Jesus Christ is the living Son of God and we follow after Him. Read Jesus' teachings and tell me that if everyone followed his lead this would be a world worth living in. Do Christians mess up and make mistakes like everyone else? You bet we do. But that doesn't mean that Christianity is wrong. It means we are flawed people trying to do right but slip now and then. Will there be obnoxious, hypocritical people professing to be Christians that make the rest of us look bad? You bet there will be. You just need to understand what Christianity really is and what it really stands for before you make a judgement call. You need to realize that each Christian is an individual that is "walking their walk" in different ways. Some good some bad. Christianity as a whole is life changing and wonderful and should not be given a bad name because of a few bad apples.

Have you ever been down or frustrated and sat down to read the Psalms or Proverbs? Have you ever read Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts of the New Testament about Jesus' life and his teachings, wondrous acts, loving kindness and miracles? The whole bible was written by men inspired by God. Everything that was ever written - I am sure - didn't make the final "cut" so there are still mysteries we don't know. The part we do have available to us is a treasure. How many books do you know that were written that long ago? Millions upon millions of people read it every day. I know I do. There are people in China and other places persecuted for reading it but still they "sneak" it. It is the LIVING WORD OF GOD. If you buy the "red print" edition you can read the words that Jesus actually spoke. That is huge. It is that important of a book. It is our roadmap for life. It is incredible. That, my friend, is why the bible is still in print.

I believe in the bible. However, there are many books for sell that are not fact. You didn't know this? There are many people selling lies to many people. Or just plain robbing them. This is not a honest world. People don't trust easily. They have a right to question things. It is up to whomever to behave properly and prove the truth. Some people are open to it some are not. No one should push their "beliefs" or "knowledge" on someone who is not open to it. Also, just to let you know they have changed wording in the bible over the years. Which changes the meaning. And they are still doing it today. Compare a new bible to an old one. Especially the easy to read versions. They are taking God's name out, etc. There are also many different religions printing their own version.

Why is the Koran still in print?
Why is "The Origin of Species" still in print?
Why is the I Ching still in print?

There are millions of books still in print, are we to believe ALL of them are the word of God because of that? Come on, Sparky, you can come up with a much better argument than that.

Edit: Gotcha? How so? We do not try to justify ourselves by thinking so much, thinking is just what we do. You might want to try it sometime.

What a ridiculous argument. Homer's Odyssey is still in print...so is it a true account of actual historical facts?

Don't get me wrong, I do believe in the Bible, but I would never use that justification.

So your definition of a factual book is one that's still in print?
I've just read Richard Dawkin's 30th Anniversary Edition of The Selfish Gene - still in print so thanks for the endorsement of evolution. All his other books are still in print too... I recommend "The Ancestor's Tale" and "The Blind Watchmaker".

Darwin's Origin of the Species - still in print

Harry Potter books - still in print (so witches flying on broomsticks are obviously true then). There are thousands of books of fiction that are in print and bought every year - the bible just happens to be one of them.

The Bible isn't the only religious book still in print. There are many others. That doesn't make any of them right.

Because people still buy it.
Christianity isn't wrong, it just needs to respect other faiths and quite preaching about the only and absolute truth. They contradict each other and all claim to be right. Whatever.
I don't believe it true anymore then I believe Harry Potter is true. I acknowledge both exist. Doesn't make them true.

Because a lot of people still buy into it. Similar to how some people think reading Harry Potter is wrong....but they still publish the books.

Even if the Bible wasn't in print any longer I would still believe in Christ.

This is the worst 'if then' statement ever.

I have been studying for a standardized test lately, and this is one that would need to be 'corrected' and scaled as 'easy'.
