A swing and slide sounds good, they could both play together on it.
My son turned 2 in February and I got him the Diego Power Wheels Jeep Wrangler. It is one of his favorite things and he can use it for many years to come!

Swing sets are great, but honestly at that age you never can tell what they'll take to. He probably has an obsession with something, right? Most boys that age do. Cars, dinosaurs, airplanes, trains, dogs, etc? I'd find something to do with that. It doesn't have to be expensive. My son has several friends all age 18-24 months and they seem to love anything with wheels. They love the Little People vehicles, especially the school bus. Or the Mega Block Wagon filled with blocks. Does he already have a Radio Flyer Wagon? They all love being pulled around the neighborhood in those!

I like the swing and slide set idea. It encourages outside activity and play skills. Also, it may get them to play together, as it's much easier to share a slide than say a stuffed animal.
My other suggestion is to get him something that the older son already has. Has the two year old ever wanted to play with the 3 year old's bouncy ball but he never shares it? Get him a similar one. My aunt used to have a similar problem, as her two sons were two years apart and always fought over toys so she ended up buying two of everything, which was a hassel for her.
If he's really not fussy, get him a new set of clothes, as toddlers are always growing.

I got my daughter the Dora 4-wheeler, although she already doesn't like it as much. (She has a 6 year old brother with a Power Wheels Hummer) so now she has a Barbie Jeep. Get them a car that they can take turns riding each other in, or the swing set sounds good. My 2 year old loves our trampoline and they can do that together. I got the one with the side nets, so they can't fall off.

My daughter was happy with a few toys from the dollar store for her birthday. Not sure why some parents feel like a great gift has to be expensive or elaborate. Two year olds are really easy to please. Maybe just a day out with mom or his favorite ice cream will be more special than a toy that will be taken away from him by big brother. You could even have the 3 year old help bake the 2 year old a cake and this way he participates in the spirit of giving and celabration.
Good luck!

Hi, how about personalized books? Kids love to hear their own name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Sesame Street, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful, unique & special gift... It's something they can enjoy now and keep forever!! Good Luck!

A swing set is a wonderful idea, children who get those keep them for many many years to come. It is a thoughtful, fun gift that his brother can play with too.
If you ever need another gift in the future,
those child sized plastic cars that he can "drive" look really fun. Most are big enough to accomadate atleast two children.

He's two. He thinks the wrapping paper is a present.
I have only one child but he has 2 cousins the same age. They didn't see each other often enough to get into hitting, but my sisters and I use to give a small present like a party favor to the kids who were too young to understand that it wasn't their birthday yet.
