The MiG can do some nifty aerobatic tricks, but so can a Pitt Special. A barrel roll does not an A/A engagement win. The MiG is legendary for having poor human factors, short range, and dozens of other shortcomings. If they fixed all of it's flaws, they would have a passable point defense fighter, but nothing remotely close to an air superiority fighter. Launching against anything more capable then an F16C or F18C would be suicide for the pilot and even then he better be packing AA10Cs instead of 10As. If a MiG 29 ever got a single kill on an F22, it would be a history making event and the pilot should receive every medal in the book considering that in tests the F22 is killing Eagles by the dozen at ranges that boggle the mind. A more fair fight might be an 8v2 Su30 v F22. The only reason I would limit the Su30 to 8 is internal weapons bay limitations on the part of the Raptor. The Sukhois might take down a Raptor if they're lucky, but I would still bet on the F22. MiG29s have been upgraded since they were conceived, so I would assume you are speaking of the not-for-export version or the Indian AF version. Here is my prediction: out of 100 2v2 engagements, 0 kills for the MiG. It would take a hefty numerical advantage for them to have a chance, and then the Raptors would simply grind until skosh and then RTB.
A few more items that come to mind: although the MiG DOES have helmet mounted sights (HMS) and AA11 Archers (known to be superior to most versions of the AIM9) it would probably still get handed it's own *** in the visual arena. Unfortunately for Comrade Pilot, the Raptor has it's own HMS and packs the AIM9X high off-boresight Sidewinder. The Russian HMS is known to be heavy, making it difficult to use in a turning fight. The Raptor is SO fast that the Air Force expanded the "safety bubble" that all fighters must maintain in a pratice visual engagement to be twice that of all other aircraft. A MiG pilot would probably knock himself unconcious just trying to maintain a visual if he was lucky enough to get that close.

RE:
F-22 Raptor vs the newly upgraded Mig-29?
Try not to be biased:
All other things equal, including pilots, in say 100 2vs2 dogfights between:
F-22 Raptor - Mig-29 (uprgrade)
Give me the win % of the Mig and back up your number with a reasonable argument.

Let me just start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Russian fighters (which are the worlds most maneuverable), but they are no match against the F 22, and Russian fighter pilots know it.
In the struggle to build the worlds best fighter jet it is not a struggle to build the worlds best dog fighter, it is about building a plane that is the best at intercepting, engaging, and terminating hostile aircraft, and the bottom line is that you can't kill what you can't see, and when Raptor pilots can see enemy aircraft before the enemy aircraft can see the Raptor........well imagine a boxer with the longest arms in the world going up against a boxer with the shortest arms in the world.
The f22 stealth completely negates the migs maneuverability and has changed the face of air to air engagements.

It would be really close. The raptor is quick, and has powerful long range missiles. The mig would have a hard time taking it down. Conversely, the mig is highly maneuverable; if it can dodge the raptor missiles, I think we'd have a stalemate. I'd give each plane an equal chance of performing better, 50 / 50.

The F15 and F16 have never lost a dogfight with a MIG-29.
In a recent exercises the F22 scored 138 to 0 vs. F15's, F16's and F18s.
In an air battle the first clue the MIG would have that an F22 was even around would be when his airplane explodes.
Hint: 'Dodging missiles' is a Hollywood fiction. The missile can make a tighter turn than the airplane can.

Here is the F-22 performing at my local navy base. At the end, it's turning withing the runway so in the air it's going from one end of the runway, turning around, going to the other end of the runway and turning around.

The Mig-29 would have to engage the F-22 visually, while the F-22 could attack at maximum range.

I've seem F-22 videos that were just as impressive. But you add superior technology, and I think it goes to the Raptor. The think even looks like it is from the future.

You are talking about two completely different generations of aircraft.
True, the Migs are great "turn and burn" aircraft, but the Mig is a simpler aircraft. It does have that handy optical aiming system.
The Raptor is newer, fihgts well in packs or alone. Is stealthy. Can go supersonic while NOT in afterburner, plus many more features.
Least of which is training, tactics, and experience in combat (the pilots, that is).
U.S. pilots train constantly and Mig pilots do not. Compare that to any sports person or musician and tell me how much practice makes perfect?

Truth fully the type of air craft is irrelevant it is the intelligence gathering and signature locating ability plus the intelligent weapons systems being launched from any kind of platform that determines the out come of the fight in today's tech warfare scenarios. the raptor wins hands down because of its support systems.
