I wanted to dye my hair lighter than my real color (med brown), and I've been trying for a month. It gets orange every time, so Im gonna red rid of the ugly carrot color using bleach or stripping the color.
What is better? What is less damaging for my hair???

go to your hair stylist. they will most likely strip the colour out. thats what my hair stylist is going to do to my hair. cause i have dark and i want light hair colour so stripping it would be the best cause when you put a lighter or bleach over your hair the roots will lighten a lot but the ends most likely arent going to cause you have more colour built up on the ends soo it will look funny. soo i suggest going to your stylist.

Bleaching and stripping are basically the same...They are both used with bleach...Stripping is used with a less developer in it, while removing old existing color. If I were you, I would call a professional you trust, because from experience before I became a hairdresser I went through the same thing, and ended up going to get it fixed. You are wasting your time, money, and emotions by not having someone experienced do the job..Ive seen it happen over, and over, and they still come in, and say "Can you fix this"? They are usually crying...So, save yourself the grief, go sit in some licenced chair, relax and let them do their work...Good luck, and don't do it yourself..

Neither one of those are good for hair period but the more you are attempting the more damaged it will be. To bleach something, is to remove or lighten its color.
Here are a list of bleach you can get from sally's beauty supplies:
~ L'Oreal Quick Blue Professional Powder Bleach
~Salon Care Prism Lites Dust Free Tonal Hair Lightener-Blue 1 lb
(With these Bleaches you need a developer so I advise you to get Clairol Pure White 30 Volume Extra Lift Crème Developer)

After you bleach your hair I reccomend you to get these treatments:
~Ion Repair Solutions Effective Care Intensive Therapy Treatment
~Optimum Salon Repair Intensive Reconstructor
~Silk Elements MegaSilk Leave In Hair Moisturizing Creme

Being a guy, I have only dyed my hair once for fun.
That what good about hair, we can change it and if it not look good, change it again later. We can grow it long, cut it short, grow it back or shave it off. Perm it or straighten it. Very versatile.
So, either will work, depending on what you want to do, to see how it look. You can always change it later. ;-)
I will say, I guess this stuff not the best for your hair, but, there many products today to repair any possible damage etc.
Just use quality products and if you unsure what you doing, let someone who does know do it.

Go to a proffessional. Anything else and your hair might fall off after doing all this stuff to it for a month. Im NOT kidding... it will fall off everywhere its damaged. I did this when I was younger and ended up having to cut my hair up to my ears. It was HORRIBLE!
