It depends what type of sore throat....if it's the start of a cold or a virus then you can just manage the symptoms without seeing the Doc....
Try a teaspoon of honey, or hot water mixed with lemon and honey together as a soothing drink. Of course there are all the over-the-counter remedies too from the pharmacy. The throat sweets with a mild anesthetic quality are also good if it's getting painful.
If your throat is swollen, gargling with aspirin or ibuprofen can help bring down the swelling and relieve the pain too.
If you do have an infection you will need to see the Doc for antibiotics in case it's tonsilitis or strep throat etc...
Hopefully it's just viral and a few home remedies will have you fine for your vacation in no time! :)

Okay! , it's too difficult for prescribing drug without any physical examinations! .
Sore throat is mainly categorize to the following issues :
1 - Viral (mainly) : Sore throat + nasal stuffiness + sneezing +
cold filling
2 - Bacterial : Sore throat + coughing + high fever + significant odynophagia + chills
3 - Allergic : Sore throat + itching in palate + sneezing
4 - Reflux induced : Reflux symptoms ( history of food regurgitation + heart burn )
5 - Cryptic tonsils : usually unilateral Sore throat + halitosis
6 - Secondary : Due to posterior nasal discharge from sinusitis ( Nasal stuffiness , headache , . . . )
7 - No clinical significance!
Now darling if you feel that you are in the 1,3,7 category you can gargle with warm salt water , and use throat lozengers and Diphenhydramine syrup 5cc q6h , also intramuscular Dexamethasone will relief your symptoms to rapidly ( but you must go to a doctor for prescription )
If you feel that there is probability for 4th item ; do not use water with your food , also do not lie after eating for at least 3 hours
And finally if there is probability for the others , do not hesitate your mind ! ; go to an Otolaryngologist office for a thorough physical examination .
Have a nice vacation and bye bye ! .

Try gargling with warm salt water. Also if you have a family physician maybe he would call you in an antibiotic. You may have an infection. Recently I had bronchitus and strepp throat. But I ran a fever. Are you running a temperature? Also there is a spray at the dollar stores, and also the pharmacy that will temporaily numb your throat. I'll pray for your healing.

The best cure for this is to gargle two to three times daily with the amber colored Listerine. Then get Airborne, and take as directed (this is available at all drugstores). You may not be completely healed (if it's a virus it has to run it's course), but with these two things you won't notice your sick! You can really enjoy your vacation, so have fun!!!
