That could be true.
My mother has been paranoid her whole life and let me tell you it is not FUN. She is not fun to be around and it was not fun to grow up under her rule. It has taken me my whole life to finally understand what is going on with her.
I always wondered it she was crazy, lying, or just tried to scare her kids.
I now believe she is in the psychic realm and she actually hears voices from her guides, angels, and spirts. Sounds kinda weird but in studying Spirituality I have learn many things and have witnessed many. Her eyesight may not be good (especially at 87 yrs old) but her hearing is super tuned. The conversations she has had her whole life are with spirits we can not see.
This is special but for a child growing up it is downright scary.
Take a look at those classified as menally ill and you may find a different reason for their paranoid behavior. I am a believer.

Actually, being paranoid means the fear that someone is out to get you, but they're not really. Not being paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get you. But being paranoid also doesn't necessarily mean they aren't out to get you either. But they might be out there coming for you. Or maybe not. Now I'm paranoid cause I think YOU'RE out to get me with these questions.

To answer this, we need to know how many total people there are, how many are parallel, and how many people from each group really have someone out to get them.
While there are definitely paranoid people who have no reason to be afraid, there could be paranoid people who have reason to be afraid, and we would want to compare this against the number of non-paranoid people who have reason to be afraid.
It is possible that the percentage of parnoid people who have reason to be afraid is higher than the percentage of non-paranoid people who have reason to be afraid.

true. there is such a thing as imagined paranoia schizophrenia however if you are not having extreme delusions it is likely that someone is out to get you.

Oh, but they are. IF I am good the bad ones are out to get me; and if I am bad the good ones are out to get me. I can't win. The fact that I am paranoid is because I have fear and fear is of the devil. True love cast out fear; and there is nothing to fear but fear itself.
Even thought they are out to get me I have this assurance: If God is for me who can be against me.
