That is very sad. I can't believe anyone would treat their child this way. Sure, I get tired and cranky but that is no excuse. You drink a cup of coffee or call a friend.

The father did know about the baby being tied up the night before and about the peanut butter, according to what was printed in the local newspaper. There was also evidence of other pacifers having adhesive on them. The baby did die, but my God, she put him down to bed, then went to bed, never checked on him that night, the father never checked on him the next morning because he was "running late" and when she finally got out of bed, the baby was dead. The paper said the baby had caused a "financial strain" on the family. I have NEVER in my life heard of a parent giving their baby peanut butter at 4 months old. Such a terrible tragedy. My prayers are with the baby, and the family, this girl needs help.
There are two stories, the other story is on the left side of the screen, once you are to the newspaper site

This is a sad story! Notice that she is only 19!!! She would have known it was a bad thing if she would've took some parenting classes or had some guidance! She should have a pacifier taped to her mouth for hours to see what the baby had to go through!!! She could've called someone to help her with the baby or something!!! That was trifling and she was being neglectful! Pray for the family and that justice will be served!!!

you could do either.... 1) take the pacifier away while she is still young enough not to get too attached to it and therefore save yourself A LOT of hassle (as you've just found out they can be every bit as annoying as they are helpful and it gets worse the longer they have one) Try self-soothing techniques like rolling her to her side away from you and patting her on the bum gently with a 'shshshshsh' noise to settle her to sleep 2) make sure the pacifier is the correct size for her age and try different shapes to see which 'fits' better for her. You can also invest in 'dummy chains' which clip to their clothes so you can easily find the dummy but they will learn to find it themselves and shove it back in, but that won't happen for a while yet. I think the best choice is to not use one. I had one child that used a dummy and one without and I much prefer not to have one. This baby won't have one!! best of luck

I know what you mean, I know it can be exhausting when you are caring for a new born, but still a mother should just put her child first even before herself. If she was too tired just lie on the bed with baby next to her to try to care for baby and get a little rest at the same time but always thinking of baby first. So many cases and so many stories where babies are not given the proper care.

That is insane...that's all that there is to say about that. She had to have known better! If I found my baby unconcious, I would have called 911 then my husband....what was she thinking? People are crazy!! Poor baby. =( I can't imagine what else he had to go through since the mother didn't know better than to tape a pacifier in his mouth. RIDICULOUS!

***EDIT...I guess next time we see a really stupid question on yahoo answers, we should answer it truthfully because if not, something like this could happen! We think that people aren't this stupid, but maybe some really are. That's sad!

this is what happens when babies have babies. Too many young girls are having babies and haven't had time yet to mature enough to learn to care for them properly. I don't mean this as a put down, I'm talking reality here. I've raised 3 great kids, I know how hard it is when you are older, mature and working a good job and married to a great person. I also know how horrible it could be for a young un married, un educated, low income person to try to cope with a baby.
Maybe we can all learn something from this tragidy.

Where the heck is her common sense???
What as a society can we do to make young women more prepared for rational thought?? We have these young girls having babies left and right and they are obviously not all ready for that challange. Right here is some proof.

For those of you who didn't read the story, the baby died.

That is why retarded people or mental people should be banned from having kids. The government should pay to get people like this fixed from having any kids.
That is just awful!
Poor poor baby!

If I were you I would speak to her and let her know that's abuse. Or, if you want to do the cowardly way, call the Bureau of Child Welfare. The next time she might be so tired and put the baby in the oven. Then you'll feel bad that you didn't do anything to stop the abuse.
