They definitely had them at one time, and having been in the military and deployed to the middle east, I thought for sure they would still have SOME chemical weapons sitting around before the invasion. I base this opinion solely on the level of preparation for chemical warfare we were put through and the threat reports we received. However, I found it hard to believe that they were somehow able to carry out a biological and/or nuclear program in the midst of heavy sanctions. In my opinion, the Iraq war was a mistake militarily due to the massive amounts of resources that were needed and the amount of strain it would place on the military. This was my view in 2003 and it is my view now. In other words, while I am not sorry to see Sadam gone and I believe that overall it was a good thing to do if we had committed to doing it right, I think our blood, treasure, and political goodwill would have been better spent in other areas.

I'll be honest. There was no WMD, and I have never seen as many foolish people in my whole life. When I read this question I was shocked. One woman there said "all terrorist countries just want to kill Americans." I don't even know how to respond to people like that.
The US is in Iraq because it has the power and the might to covet what is no their own. It has absolutely no business occupying other countries on this earth, or stealing natural resources. If Iraq had nuclear weapons, it still would not be up to the US to determine it a country that needs oppressed. Sadam Hussein has been hung for war crimes. Will I ever watch George Bush being hung for his appaling crimes, not only on humanity, but on the globe.
Please leave our world alone. Take your soldiers out of countries they should not be in. Stop the CIA financing secret wars, so America can step in, and arm other countries under its control. Stop racing into Eastern Europe, you are getting Russia edgy, and putting Nuclear Weapons in Czech is a dramatic act for our planet. Stop giving the Israeli's a free hand to murder innocent Palestinians, just because they can accomodate you financially and militarily in the middle east. Pull out of Korea, and take your eyes of Iran. You are creating a melting pot, and the world fears you, but we don't all have to put up with you. Some of us would rather die. You got away with dropping 2 atom bombs, and I highly doubt the world will stand by and ever let you do such a thing again.

Newsfalsh, people, QUIT BELIEVING EVERYTHING THE MEDIA TELLS YOU.....you need to pay attention. Freakzilla is right....there may not have been tons of chemical and biological weapons over here in Iraq, but to say 'none where ever found' is the stupidest thing I have personally ever heard. Hell, we just found some mustard rounds over here about three months ago. Three years ago a IED was used that had nerve agent in it. So, yeah, keep believing everything the idiotbox tells ya......

super positioned up Lavadog. yet whilst i understand liberals like i think of I do they gained't examine what you reported becasue it is going against what they suspect. They place self assurance in thoughts and what they think of are good intentions over info. And upload in that their leaders have invested in defeat from the begining of the Iraqi war for political motives questioning and hoping it's going to make Bush seem undesirable. Political earnings over the protection of our protection tension in harms way isn't basically shameful yet borderline treason. isn't it humorous that they say they're the champions of issues like freedom of speech and equality, yet they returned people who will take all those rights away as rapid as they are able to. they're helping their worst enemy with the help of dividing our usa in a time after we ought to constantly be united. they think of they're a shoe in in 09 basically like they concept in 00 and 04. If the human beings who returned those pathetic human beings awaken and spot the fact they're going to loose in a land slide alongside with their do no longer something congress. i'm no longer saying the republicans are that lots extra advantageous. we want a solid conservative chief who believes united statesa.'s desires ought to come first over their celebration or their backers. If this does not take place then we are able to be like the country of Iran at suitable. i desire to work out the peacenics have rallys then and spot what they do to you.

Yes, I thought so.
PS This is beyond the scope of your question, but this is the resolution passed by Congress authorizing the war:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021002-2.html
I think this is somewhat relevant, because it displays what a majority of each house of Congress at the time believed.
In any event, I think it's worth reading. I'm surprised how many people ask "why did we go to war" and never bother to seek out this primary source.

Yes he did have WMDs, but they weren't the WMDs we went to war over. Non of the WMDs we went to war over were ever found, nor was evidence that they were ever created. The WMD history in Iraq is much more complicated then "did he have them or not?" And most people don't know this.

We all though so, and they are still looking and you must remember Iraq is a very large litter Box. And they are not done looking as of yet? If they do find something, do you really think they are going to tell us about it?

They may have had a few chemical weapons, but nothing on the scale that would have warranted the fear-mongering that led us to war.
And no, I did not believe the "intelligence" or the hype that Iraq had anything that we should fear.
Too bad, too, b/c Iraq was the lynchpin in keeping Iran in check...

To be honest I didn't care about Iraq, I was more worried about the person we still haven't caught. Bin Laden. Hey maybe we can start a new show, Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden?

Honestly, I wasn't sure because Saddam was playing so many games with the people trying to get into the country to check. No one was really certain, but I wonder if the powers that be knew all along that he did not have them.
