OH My YES!!!

It is a more extensive surgery but you can't have him crypted and be happy.

Ask you dad if he wants his balls up inside him.

Yes, yes, yes, and absolutely yes. ESPECIALLY if he is a cryptorchid (undescended testicles).

Cryptorchid dogs are more susceptible to testicular cancer if the testes are not removed.

A note for "Bubblegum" from the above link from UC Davis:

"A common misconception is that after neutering, males will become lethargic and gain weight. No published evidence shows a change in appetite or exercise after neutering. Some possible explanations for the misconception may be the decreased roaming activity and decreased fighting between males. Any weight gain can be controlled by the caretaker decreasing the animal's available food intake."

Get your doxie neutered.

As others have said, the major concern for a cryptorchid dog (with both testes inside the body) is cancer. Testicles in this position nearly always go cancerous at some point.

The surgery is similar to a spay surgery for a female dog. Very short recovery time, and very routine.

For your boy's health, I would definitely have it done.

Retained testes can turn cancerous so YES he needs to be neutered. The older he gets the more major the surgery is on his body. Neutered dogs live longer, are happier and better behaved.

Talk to your vet, but neutering is a surgical procedure regardless. I had it done to my wire hair fox terrier and he didn't seem to think it was a big deal. It's your sensibility that is bothered by it, not theirs.

There are three things a good dog owner should do.

1. regular vaccinations

2. spay/neuter

3. obedience training.

Yes. neuter your dog - especially with his testes the way they are. This is absolutely vital.

If this little guy's testicals haven't dropped,a surgery is necessary to correct this problem and any vet will tell you the dog may eventually get cancer of the testicals. Most people on here will tell you to neauter, but I would never have this procedure done,as it is awful and you can just imagine how you would feel if your testicals were actually removed from the sacks.I feel this isn't anyones right to do this to any animal.

Yes, this could cause testicular cancer. He will be fine. Dogs bounce back quick after procedures like that!

Yes absolutely. He should not be bred in that situation and will be healthier in the long run if it is done. The procedure is very simple and routine - even with his condition - which is common. He is young and will recover very quickly. Please do it.
