I drink about 10 energy drinks a day and I think it is the only thing keeping my heart going. If I stop will my body shut down?

First off, thats not what keeps your heart going....you are actually puting a huge strain on your heart by causing it to beat much more than it should be. Im surprised you havent had a heart attack by now. You should drink only 1 per day at max!

You will not die. In fact, if you keep drinking all this caffeine that will cause you to die prematurally rather than you stopping the caffeine. Your best bet is to taper off of the caffeine. Instead of drinking 10 energy drinks a day this week try going with 8. Then next week lower it to 7 and then the next week 6 drinks, and so on and so forth. Quitting the caffeine cold turkey will be just outright hard. You will probably be dragging for about a month if you quit cold turkey. So, I would taper off the stuff until you can handle one or two energy drinks a day. This way it wont be such a shock to your body if you quit outright. I hope this helps my friend. Good luck with lowering your caffeine intake and take care.

No, it is not the only thing keeping your heart going. Right now you have developed a very high caffeine tolerance, and you need ten energy drinks to feel 'normal'. You could stop any time you wish and your only side effects would be an increased feeling of fatigue, small loss of mental clarity, and a throbbing headache. This is called withdrawal. The only drugs that can kill you during withdrawal are the some of the bigger stimulate drugs like crystal meth. I recommend cutting back by one energy drink per day, every 2 weeks. You are going to have to focus and actually concentrate on kicking this habit, because caffeine is slightly addicting. (That means it stimulates the dopamine reward system in your brain, making you feel happier). Good luck, and no you won't die.

No, but I don't think it's a good idea to stop cold-turkey.

I would suggest cutting it down to 7 energy drinks per day for the first week. Then during the second week, cut your energy drinks down to 5 per day. Week three, cut it down to 2 per day. For week four, I would only have one per day, and even try to go a day or two without any. Week five your caffeine-free!!

If you do not eliminate this caffeine from your diet gradually, you will most likely have severe headaches. Not to mention, you will probably become a complete grump.

I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Caffeine is the single most addictive drug known to humanity. When you drink it continuously it alters your brain to the pint where your body needs the caffeine to keep going. If you stop it will take a while for the parts of your brain which have gone dormant to start producing the things they were producing before so you feel awake and alert. Sorry but you're gonna feel like dirt for a bit if you stop but it'll probably add ten years to your life and increase your ability to focus naturally.

of course not silly!
there are other source of energy like eating green veggies and fresh fruits added by eating meat for protein and rice for carbo try eating a full meal course in the morning coz thats where u get ur energy for the whole day and stop drinking those energy drinks ur taking coz it'l juz make u more weak and ul be at risk of having a nervous problem at the same time those drinks are giving u extra energy thus making ur body works even if it can longer do it!

No you will not die, but going "cold turkey" after taking so much for so long is not a good idea. Try cutting down slowly. Ease off to 8 a day, and then 6 until you are finally down to one. One or two of those Energy Drinks a day is probably not bad for you but you are wayyy over doing it and yes you are correct it is not good for your heart!

No, but you'll wish you did. Just gradually slow down because caffeine withdrawls REALLY suck! I used to drink 7-10 redbulls a day and then I started drinking like 5 monsters a day, but now I only drink a cup of coffee a day and it's been like 2 months and I'm still trying to get my energy back. Energy drinks are like crack, DAMN THEM ALL!!

No, your body will not shut down.

Ten energy drinks a day is terrible for you, many of them are acidic and can eat away at your GI lining.

All in all, you're more likely to suffer problems if you keep drinking this much, as opposed to if you stop.

Caffeine is addicting. You should slowly taper down, if you want to quit drinking it. 10 is a little excessive, and I doubt it's keeping your heart going, but may be putting a real strain on it. If you quit, you all at once, you'll have a horrible headache for a while, but life will go on.
