I am at 51st and Lexington. First time in NYC. Any good ideas of a place I can get a taste of New York without walking too far?

Thanks for the help!

I think there are several good pizza places in Manhattan, and there's long been a debate over which ones are the best. Since you want to stay close to your hotel, I'd recommend either Patsy's or John's. They're both main contendors in the battle for the best pizza in town.

Patsy's is very close to your hotel, at 206 East 60th Street (between 3rd Avenue and Lexington). John's isn't too far away, either, at 408 East 64th Street (just East of 1st Avenue). Just keep in mind that neither of these spots are original locations. They both serve delicious thin-crust pizza, though!

The best place for pizza is John's. The only thing is that they do not sell by the piece. But, the pizza is so good you can go over, take out a whole pizza eat what you want and freeze the rest until you are ready for the rest. It's worth it. I believe it's around 44th street on the east side. Not too far for you to go.

I know it might not be too close but Artuoro's Pizzeria on 106 West Houston Street is the best pizza I've ever had. It is considered one of the best pizza place in the city by the Zagat rated, if you trust Zagat. Their crust is so thin, and it might be the best cheese I've ever had. Going out of your way will definitely be rewarded with this taste of heaven.

Lombardi's on Prince in NoLiTa. But it's a hike from you....

I think it was the first pizzeria in nyc? Also, they have a great Caesar salad.
