A source (like a battery), a conductive path (wires), and a load (like a light bulb) are parts of a circuit. The source must be connected to the load to complete the circuit.

A switch may be added to the conductive path to interrupt the current flow, or allow the current to flow.

More complex circuits have more complex loads and multiple conductive pathways, and even more complex circuits use multiple sources.
