Koreans are a naturally reserved and dignified people who have strong cultural links and believe strongly in family values etc etc. Many Koreans follow Bhuddism or Cunfusianism (sp?) both of which encourage obedience in the family and peer groups. In other words, Koreans have a strict pecking order. Since most older Korean adults do not agree with public displays such as holding hands ( not quite so much these days), kissing and cuddling etc. then it follows that they will not tolerate the kids doing it so, generally speaking, the Korean kids behave a bit like young Victorians.
The result of this is whilst you will see lots of young Korean males holding hands and hugging in public and lots of young Korean girls doing the same you won't see the couples doing it. The other problem is that, unlike in the West, unmarried Koreans live with their parents a lot longer ( some into their thirties)
So, where do they go for a kiss and cuddle session? They go to the private video rooms and watch naughty movies and go at it like little rabbits.. that's what they do.
So, the answer is, they don't have a problem with it.. they're just not allowed to do it in public.

Kissing in public is not as common in Korea as it is in the U.S. or the rest of the world. In many of the older Korean dramas, when a couple kisses, it usually means the relationship is very serious and will likely lead to marriage.
According to the traditional Confucian ethics, a boy and a girl must be separated when they turn seven. This shows that physical contact between a boy and a girl was absolutely prohibited in Korea. Of course the world has changed a great deal since the days of Confucianism. Nowadays, physical contact between the sexes among young people is a pretty common sight on campuses, on the streets and many other public places. Traditionally while physical contact between opposite sexes were strictly prohibited, contact among the same sex was tolerated. I'm sure that you have witnessed many females walking hand in hand with another female.
And that's why physical intimacy is such a touchy subject in Korean culture.
I also think that they may just be shy.....................

In modern Korean weddings, I dont think the couple even kiss at the end of the ceremony. They only kiss when their guests cheers them to do so. The Korean society, esp. the older generation, are not used to people kissing in front of them. that's why I guess Korean couples don't kiss much in public either. I think they should show more affection if they want to.
