Yes there is, it is actually the same perm solution used to create curl but instead of the hair being rolled on perm rods it is combed straight using a board usually.
The cost depends on the salon, but I'd say at least $50.
Yes they do work.
The hair that is straightened will stay straight, the new hair that grows in will be your natural curly hair. So depending on how fast your hair grows, it would have to be touched up every few months.
Yes it does damage the hair, but no more than any other chemical process. No it does not hurt and no your hair will not fall out.
Rebonding is a new form of chemical straightening and is less damaging and more expensive. It does work but does not last any longer.

yes there is such thing as a straighteneing perm. yes it works but its expensive, Including a haircut, and Protein conditioning Treatment, the Japanese Straight Perm should cost between $250 and up depending on length. its permanent because they put chemicals into your hair tht make it straight and stay tht way. when you go to the professionalist it will take about 3-5 hours depending on your hair type. they dont damage the hair in any way, they make it look more healthier actually.Blow drying, brushing, and using a flat iron on a regular basis are all damaging to your hair. After have a properly performed Japanese Straight Perm, you won't need to use these strong methods to style your hair the way you like. This way, over time, and given the proper care, your hair is likely to get healthier. Remember also that starting with healthy hair makes a tremendous difference. Expect that your hair will be as healthy after the process as when you first come to the salon. This process is not meant to repair damaged hair.
Of course, any chemical treatment will have an effect on your hair. This is why it's very important to only consider using the best-quality products, in the right mix, with the most up-to-date technique and procedures. To be sure you only receive the best possible treatment.

Q14: Why have some people had bad experiences with this procedures?
The Japanese Straight Perm is one of the most difficult procedure to do. Experience is the most important for the specialist.

Q15: How can I make an appointment?
Call 213-387-3040

Q2: What's the difference between the Japanese Straight Perm and a chemical relaxer?
Chemical relaxers unfortunately do not straighten hair very well, and they use chemical ingredients that leave the hair brittle, dry, and unhealthy. The Japanese Straight Perm gives you soft, silky, shiny, straight hair. And, you hair will be healthier!

A straightening perm is called a relaxer. Definitely check out some salons that do a lot of them because it is the most powerful chemical hairdressers use. Depending on your area it can cost from $75-$400. Most fall in the middle of $150. It straightens the hair until it is cut off. after 6-8 weeks you will need to have the new-growth retouched. Once your use a sodium hydroxide relaxer you can not re-curl your hair afterwords using chemicals just irons. Even after the relaxer it might still be necessary for you to use a flat iron since your hair is so curly

Yes, there is a straightening perm! It's called a relaxer and many women with ethnic or curly hair use them to get straighter styles. Getting a relaxer done at the salon can run you $40+, but there are at-home kits that you can purchase at your local grocery or drug store that cost as little as $6 each (check in the african american hair care section). If you chose to go the at-home route, PLEASE have someone else apply it for you.

I have thick, stubborn hair so I use a relaxer every 4-5 weeks. I have friends who apply their relaxers every 6-8 weeks, so the length of time it lasts really depends on your hair type and how fast it grows. Relaxers work by breaking down the molecular bonds that make the hair curl. This, by definition, makes the hair weaker, but if you deep condition often and stay away from hair dye and heat styling, your hair can be relatively healthy. Few people have experienced hair loss from relaxers, but in my opinion, it was caused by using a relaxer that was too strong or it was left in for too long.

Since this would be your first relaxer, I would suggest using a no-lye regular or light formula. PLEASE follow the directions exactly as they are written OR just pay a salon to apply it for you.

I've included the websites of some companies that make good relaxers, below this post.

Hope this helped and I hope your hair turns out gorgeous!

yes there is a relaxer, a reverse perm, or the japanese straightening. The prices vary from the salons you go to... they usually start @ $40.00 for relaxers and reverse perms but the japanese technique is WAAAAAYYY MORE MONEY. yes the all work it stays in your hair for as long as you grow it out.. if you get a relaxer... after 6-8 weeks your hair has grown plenty so you would need a retouch . What it does is it changes the molecular structure in your hair and breaks the bonds in your hair to make it straight. It dries out your hair but if you dont take care of it, it will look bad.. as long as you take care of your hair you're all set. Hair rebonding is when you add keratin protein to your hair. Yes all the above mentioned services work. I suggest you go have a consultation with a stylist and ask all the questions necessary for you to know all the details.. Good luck.. embrace your curl..i know i finally did :-)

Yes. It is similar to a regular perm.
Cost varies depending on the salon....but it usually is just as expensive as it would be to perm your hair.....
It depends on how thick and long your hair is....the more hair you have, the more time and solution it takes.....
It doesn't hurt...it might burn a bit, like a normal perm would.
Adding chemicals to your hair is rarely 'good' for it...but if it was known for making your hair fall out, then not so many people would do it.

Also, about whether or not it works....for some people it works well...and for others with that poodle kind of poof...not so much....it may just tame it a bit....

Talk to your stylist...she (or he) would know what's best for you.

Yes - there are straightener things out there that work in the same way as a curly perm - they relax the structure of the hair. How good they are I don't know though - sorry. And they will do the same sort of damage that a curly perm does too.

1. There isnt such a thing as a straigtening perm but, you can get your hair chemically straightened.
2. I dont know how much chemically stragitening is.
3. It works a little it straigtens but all your hair gets fraid, broken, thinned and falls out.
4. It stays until more of your hair grows then you have to get it done again.
5. Again it makes it fraid, it falls out, it gets thinner and broken
6. I dont know.
7. No it doesnt work.
8. NO IT DOESNT WORK!! :) DONT USE IT!!!

I have a friend who is a high end hair stylist ($85 for a cut at her salon) and this is what she suggested to me.when I asked what could I do to avoid the iron.

"Get a home perm kit and don't use the rollers"

The chemicals don't curl your hair they mold your hair to the shape of the curler used so follow the directions except for the curler part unless you would like a flip at the ends.

Good luck!

Oh yeah you can get your hair straightened for around $400 for med/long hair around here.

my friend got her hair chemically straightened. It lasted for about 3 months and cost her around $90. It didn't hurt her just took about as long as a perm would take. It does damage your hair though. It worked for her and she has frizzy hair that never stays straight. Good luck!!
