I'm not surprised. Anyone who thinks they can constantly handle wild creatures that don't want to be handle and takes risks, and shows off with them will eventually get killed by something. The only surprise for me was that it was a stingray and not a snake or a crocodile. Maybe he shouldn't have been doing this sort of thing if he had a wife and child.
Personally I think he was a bit of a twit. You wouldn't see David Attenborough acting like an idiot and insisting that he touch everything (or anyone that works with wild animals come to think of it).

And when you die, lets hope your family don't have to go through what people like you are making the Irwin family go through, people think that just because they were on telly, means that they are fair game, well i am sorry mate, but you need to grow up and realise that these are real people, with feelings, and a wife has lost her husband, and children lost their father, and the world lost a great man, i very much doubt people will say that about you when you go. probably more like thank F**k for that, he has gone! what a waste of space he was.

if you actually put them together for a fight then Steve Irwin would win but the stingray was sneaky and attacked him without warning, which i think is cheating so the stingray should be disqualified
