Maymont Park in Richmond - the Italian garden is a favorite wedding site - and they have a carriage house set up for receptions too.

Also, check with the garden club - sometimes some of the stately homes in Windsor Farms or along Monument Avenue will allow weddings to be performed in their back yards.

The Poe museum on East Broad street has a lovely courtyard in back - and Mr. Patrick Henry's restaurant/inn is just a couple of blocks away.

The museum of fine arts on Boulevard and Grove has a wonderful sculpture garden with fountain - imagine getting married among some of the world's great art! And if it rains, you can perhaps hold the ceremony in the Italian piazza.

If you're into the CIvil War - see if you can't hold the ceremony in the old hospital church next door to the VMFA or at the Valentine Museum near MCV - or at the Daughter's of Confederacy museum...

By permit only - at the top of the City Hall 900 E Broad - but by permit only.

The Chapel at Virginia Union University - is an awfully nice place to get married - and they have great catering, too.

Saint Gertrude High School used to have a beautiful chapel and lovely gardens. I'd give them a call.

Of course the country club of virginia - and Stratford Hills Country club are lovely venues - but for members only - perhaps you could swing an invitation?

The University of Richmond is a lovely campus - again with a chapel and good catering.

There's an Episcopal retreat - I can't recall the name - something like Edgemont or Keswick or Mayflower - one of those stuffy names like that - right on River Road - well worth asking. Good sites for outdoor weddings and pavillions etc. for caterers etc.

Deep Run Hunt Club in Goochland County is nice too.

Hope this helps.

The former respondent had mentioned Windsor Farms: there are two lovely venues there, the Virginia House and Agecroft Hall, both of which are on the James River and are lovely places to have a reception.

Also, the Science Museum (the old train station) has an outdoor reception area at the back of the building that is wonderful.

At the Canal Walk in Shockoe Slip (near Stool Pigeons) there is the Lady Byrd hat building and right around there is an AMAzing outdoor area.

Manchester Industrial district also has some really wonderful artsy, outdoor spaces. Check the Plant Zero building. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts also has a second floor outdoor space that is absolutely gorgeous.

Good luck with all the plans!

Maymont in Richmond is just beautiful beyond words & so romantic!!! I've wandered the grounds many times & seen lovely weddings in the Italian garden. Linden Row in Richmond is gorgeous & set up for both weddings & receptions. I've been to a wedding/reception there & it was exquisite. The Jefferson Hotel can't be topped for romance & luxury!!! Any of the country clubs in town are so pretty too & could handle the wedding & the reception. As far as the Williamsburg/Peninsula area - There's lots of places there. You could get married on the Jamestown Scotland ferry & have the reception across the river!! That would be different & fun!! I've listed sites below that you can check out for that area since I don't have experience of weddings there. I know the area very well, just never went to a wedding! lol
Get married in Yorktown, overlooking the river & have your reception at Captain George in Williamsburg - wow!!
Anyway, good luck & have a lot of fun! Congrats!!!
