For about two weeks or more, I've had a really bad cough. Laughing makes me cough, just about anything makes me cough. Medicine isn't helping, cough drops aren't helping. It's a thick, mucussy sounding cough, kinda like a smokers cough, but I don't smoke. After I cough, I get this really nasty taste in my mouth. When I breath, I feel like something is rattling in me chest and a lot of times, after I get done coughing, I have chest pains.
I can't go to the dr, because I'm on medicaid and no dr around here will take it. Should I go to the hospital?
Serious answers only, please.

If you absolutely can't find a doctor or clinic that will see you, then by all means, go to the hospital. It sounds like you have pneumonia, which does leave a nasty taste in your mouth. You probably need to be on an antibiotic and inhalers until it clears up. I had this recently, and my symptoms were the same as yours. Good luck.

It sounds like you have bronchitis, and since it has been two weeks or more, and you have that nasty taste in your mouth, it's probably an infection that may require antibiotics.

Isn't there a prompt-care or urgent-care clinic any place nearby? That's usually the best choice in your situation, and they usually are owned by hospitals, so they do take patients in your situation.

If all else fails, yes, go to the hospital. But if you can, go in the middle of the day. Emergency rooms are packed in the middle of the night.

Yeah you should probably be evaluated. There are many things that could cause coughing like pnumonia, bronchitis, asthma, heart disease, acid reflux, etc. You should have some of the more serious problems ruled out. If your hospital is the only place that takes medicaid, then you should get yourself over to the ER.

Yes, you should go to the doc. my sister had the same thing and she was hospitalized with pneumonia... She just thougth she had a cough, she could have died.... So, at the very least you should go. Maybe it's not that serious, but it's best to get it checked out...good luck

Yes, i think you should go, your symptoms do sound abit serious. Get yourself checked out, it can't do any harm, can it?

I think it could be broncitis, my friend had it she had similar symptoms to you. The earlier its treated the better. I know broncitis usually happens to smokers, but my friend didnt smoke either and she got it.

I would go to the hospital...it could be bronchitis, or pneumonia. If your lungs feel rattly, it's probably an infection of some sort...get it checked out asap!!

I understand your dilemma, but your health is too important,...there should be a local clinic for low-income families, or the hospital would be the best bet.

you may try rubbing a mentol based vapo-rub (e.g vicks, robb etc or such othe brands) on your feet and wear socks before going to bed. it ll help ease the coughs through the night as you wait to decide on the best medical help available since ultimately its important to get proper treatment

Possible pneumonia, at very least bronchitis.
That would be my best guess. Certainly warrents having a doctor look at it
