Ok my answer is, Religon is what Church is for. I'm not Christian I think most of it is propoganda. I don't want my kids exposed to that version of Christianity. Religion doesn't belong in school, including my own. Religion is for Church.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
No more needs to be said. Schools are a government institution, and therefore have no right to sanction one religion's belief over another.
As for evolution, that is a scientific theory having nothing whatsoever to do with religion and if you don't learn it how will you ever argue against it?

To those who ask why evolution is taught since they don't believe in it, evolution does have credible evidence behind it. While it may not explain everything about evolution, they are constantly seeking out new evidence. Can you say the same for creation? How would you even prove creation? And for the absolute, very last time, we did NOT come from monkeys, we shared a common ancestor, way, way back! Maybe some people need a refresher course on evolution?

It must not be taught as science, because it is fantasy, not science. Putting such nonsense in science classes will put us behind many other nations who know better. The USA has more believers in this myth than most other lands. The First Amendment forbids a state religion, so if Genesis creation is taught anywhere (maybe in fairy tale classes), equal time must be given to Sumerian, Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, Viking, Chinese, Indian, etc. creation myths.

My goal this morning is not to humor anyone- it is just to say- why should evolution be taught in school, when I and others don't believe in that? And for the person who said creationism is not taught in any church they have attended or Methodist University- what do you make of the opening verse in Genesis- "God CREATED the heavens and the earth?"

Because the state education system is showing creationism for the asinine fantasy that it is and undoing all that work from Sunday.
Armed with the knowledge that they are being taught a load of bollocks they are leaving the churches. The churches want them back, and so want to stop the children's education.

If someone can get away with saying to our children that we came from monkeys, than there should be someone teaching our children about God! This one sided thing that we teach our kids is crazy.
The crime in schools these days is also crazy. I think taking out God out of schools is horrible.
I would like to see religion as a personal choice when a student picks classes. Like picking a language. Students can pick french or latin.... Let students pick their religion they want to study also. It gives them freedom to chose new things about different religions and they can base new respect for people they didn't other have!
People don't want to compromise and want it there way only. And this concept doesn't work, as we are all seeing. Give and take and allow people to chose for themselves? Well..........I am waiting!!!!
And Ps
I wouldn't be so proud if I was you about being evil!
Edit: I read you right, however I still wouldn't be proud of that! You really need to learn to deal with your anger!

Personally, I feel that neither should be taught as the ultimate truth. Why is it so hard to say that X% of people believe in evolution and X% believe in creationism? Let the child make up his/her mind.

The opposite works as well if opinion is the basis for what is taught in schools, right?
