Not all Christians are fighting a belief in evolution. Usually its only the ones that don't even know what the proper definition for it is that are fighting it, because it doesn't fit a literal interpretation of what the Bible says, so it doesn't fit with what THEY think the way God made the world. These people deny the evidence and think that belief in evolution equals a denial of the existence of God, when in truth, evolution says ONLY that we MAY have come from a common ancestor. The proof of the existence or nonexistence of God is not one of the things science can NOT do because no experiment can be devised to measure the existence or nonexistence of the supernatural.
Yes, there are a LOT more important things to fight for. Evolution isn't "wrong", but it is extremely misunderstood.

There are more important things. But Creation is a big deal because it's the first thing talked about in the Bible and it's the basis for the belief that God is the one and only powerful force in the universe. Not all Christians take the Creation story literally, however. Some believe that the six days of Creation were really longer time periods. Some also believe that the evidence of evolution is correct and that God chose to create the earth in that way. There are a lot of different theories on the subject of Creation. It's mainly Fundamentalist Christians that get outrageously upset when evolution is brought up because they think if any part of evolution is true, that means that we are saying God isn't really as powerful. I personally believe in God and Creation, but there is a lot of scientific evidence to support some sort of Big Bang and evolution as well so I take those in to consideration. I believe God is all-powerful so he could make the universe and the earth any way He wanted.

My personal theory is that there are so many painful and difficult issues that we could be discussing.....poverty, unemployment, crime, healthcare, abuse, etc., that we have been having trouble finding answers for......that on some level we want to argue about something we really CAN'T find an answer to, no matter how much we argue about it. It's almost like moving into the realm of fantasy as an escape from reality. But that's all kind of subconscious...........
Basically I think this has become an issue because of the overall conservative backlash we're seeing in this country today. All over the country, in all areas, we're seeing an upsurge of conservative viewpoints and conservative ways of thinking. Fundamentalist Christians take the Bible literally, so of course they have to believe that the Creation story is a literal account of how the world came to be. This has become a debate, even though most Americans don't take those biblical accounts literally, because of the stronger voice conservatives have been gaining over the past 10 years or so. Most likely in 10 or 15 years things will swing back the other way, and then back, etc etc etc. That's the way history seems to go, I guess.

It is odd, the Theory of Evolution has been around a hell of a lot longer than ID or Creationism. I can't help thinking that there is some kind of agenda here on the part of born again type wackos. I mean who ever heard of creationism, 5 or 10 years ago? Unless you were a regular at a fundy church perhaps?
I don't know, I just find it odd.

The Bible isn't faith? It is not just a oridinary book.....it is a book that instrusts you about how things in life worked back then and should be applied to everyone's lives today. Reading the Bible strengthens someone's faith!

Creation is the fundamental question of religion. Not just how humans were created, but how the universe and all matter was created.
Did the universe create itself or has it always existed? Or did God create the universe? And if God created the universe, who created God or did God always exist? These are the root questions of religion and what ultimately divides Theists and Atheists.

For some of them, no.
I would not say all Christians are fighting over the teaching of evolution or creationism in schools. Most religiously affiliated universities teach evolution in their science courses, not creationism.

AD--->only goes 1 way, unto the END written
Created of Created/Made is Old of Old/New.
So also is the Creator of Creator/Maker Old.
What's Old is ready to vanish & shall vanish;
Because what's old is also faulty, not perfect.
Eg: the dead sea is now rapidly vanishing,
and so is a Horeb-bull Mtn told to jump in it.
The God of "all grace" MAKE you perfect...e-stablished,
AFTER ye(do err, greatly & alway) suffer awhile in law law.
The GRACE(ONLY) of our Lord J->C with you->all. Amen.
