So im planing on getting my first tatto pretty soon but i dont know where to go. I want to get a pirate ship on my shin(?)( you know that part on your legbelow the knee). Where can i go to look for a good tattooo shop with good artist.

where do you live? most states have atleast a few great artists but it depends on the style that you want and how much you are willing to pay for a quality tattoo.

Tattoo expo's are t4he best places to find a good tattoo artist. You can look for an artist that has the same taste of style you do and you can see a bunch of artists and their works at the same time. I would not reccommend listening to someone who has only one tattoo or a bunch of ugly tattoo where they got their work done. You want to talk to someone who has an original tattoo not just something they picked off the wall. It would be a shame to go through all of that work to find someone else with the same thing tattooed on them.
Have the artist you pick come up with a couple different drawings for you so you can customize to the style and elements you want. Good luck that shin will be painful.

Go into the local shops in your area first and ask to see portfolios or pictures of the artist's work. If you can't find anything, expand your search area until you find someone you like. I think everyone should have a good relationship with their tattooist.

Ask people in your area who have them where they went and what they thought of the place. It's a big and permanent decision so you want to make sure you have it done by the best. When you actually go to get it, but sure that they open all of the needles in front of you. Don't worry too much about the pain, it's really more annoying that anything.
