You are definitely not fat - not even on a 'bad day'. Your body mass index is 22 kg/m2. Body mass index below 18.5 is considered underweight and a health risk. The ideal body mass index is between 18.5 and 25 and that is your range. A body mass index of 25 to 30 is considered 'cosmetically' overweight and at risk of obesity but this level is not a clearly established health risk. The body mass index 'goals' were established by the National Institutes of Health in 1998 using data from those of European descent and therefore does not apply quite as nicely for those of other ethnic groups. For example for those of Asian descent the goal body mass index should probably be about 2 kg/m2 less meaning that 28 might be considered obese rather than overweight. Those at overweight status are typically referred to as 'at risk' of becoming obese. The National Institutes of Health established 3 levels of obesity. Body mass index 30 to 35 level 1, 35 to 40 level 2, and above 40 level 3 or 'morbid' obesity. The risk of premature (less than age 50 for males and less than age 60 for females) cardiovascular events (think stroke and heart attack) increases in a non-linear logarithmic manner as body mass index exceeds 30. Diet and exercise is recommended for those with a body mass index of 30 to 40. Bariatric surgery is recommended for those with a body mass index over 40 and also for those with a body mass index between 35 and 40 if the person has other health problems such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes.

I would have to see a pic. But you are tall, so 150 isn't all that bad. I would venture to say that you aren't fat, but would do well to lose a few pounds. It would also depend on your BMI.

But I don't think you would have to lose all that much - go for it!
