I recently installed a JBL 10" sub in my car with an Alpine 400 watt RMS. Right after I installed it, like in the first hour it worked fine. But now, my battery seems dead, and i checked to make sure that the amp wasn't staying on when i turned off the car... so what could be the problem? Did i take too long in installing it and left the doors open too long thus draining the battery? or did i wire the remote turn on cable wrong?
it seems like the amp is drawing too much from the battery right when i turn on the car, so it doesn't have enough juice to turn over. it just clicks a lot...

If the amp's power light turns off with the key, then the remote turn-on isn't mis-wired. Chances are you just have a dead battery that needs to be recharged.
Your amplifier's current demand isn't anything close to what the starter needs to start the engine. Jump-start the vehicle, let the engine run for a while, and there's a good chance you won't have any more trouble.
I'm assuming from what you wrote that you haven't started and run the vehicle since the installation. If your battery's dying overnight after the installation, then pull the main power line fuse at the battery and see if the problem persists.

Probably you're right, you spent too much time installing the system, and the battery died. If the amplifiers turns off with the car switched to off, then you just need to recharge your battery leave everything turned off like the amp, radio, A/C, just leave the motor running for a while. then turn the car off, if it doesn't start again you need a new battery or even a alternator. To test this disconnect the positive wire of the battery with the car on. and if it turns off the alternator may be damage.
For just 400w rms I dont think the car have power problems, jjust get a cap to help the current draw.

the remote on wire is blue with a white line streaking down it. if u wired the remote on wire wrong the amp wont even turn on. so thats out of the question. jump start the car and turn the radio off. this will let the battery charge up. drive around for a bit or let the car run alone. then leave the car on and turn on the radio. turn it up loud to use a lot of the cars energy. let it run like that for about 20 mins. turn the car off and turn it back on. if it wont start the alternator could be bad.

You should get a battery that has more CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). For one sub I would try at least a 700amp battery. I'm Also make sure that your alternator is working ok. You can usually take your car to your local auto parts store and they can make sure that your battery and alternator are working properly. They test it right there on the spot for free in most places and it doesn't take more than 5 minutes. Make sure that the amp does turn off when you turn your radio off though. Hope this helps.

you probably did drain your battery by taking a long time to install the amp and sub. That happened to me, I spent all day installing a sound system in my friends truck and by the time I was done the battery couldn't start the car.
just jump the battery, and run the engine for a while, if you don't own a battery charger.

Dude, listen up, i had that same problem
here's what i did
1. Since i had no coin for a new battery I just slapped on a 75c toggle switch on the remote turn on wire. this helped on the start up
2. Make sure you let your car warm up for like 30 seconds before turning on your amp
3. Let your car catch up after you are done and just idle for 30 seconds to let the battery get some kind of charge in it.
4. start saving your penny's because you will need a new battery soon.
5. keep a set of jumper cables in your car!
Hope that help remotely.

education: -Discharge the battery to 2-3% as quickly as in a week then recharge it. -do no longer plug it entire day on ability supply Or save it plugged in yet get rid of the battery. thoughts: After utilising laptop continually for greater effective than 4 hours, provide a relax of jiffy. This extents the existence of your processor and forestall it from over heating.

You need to slap a lithium battery on that crap. Still though any battery should be able to handle 400 watts.
