Popularity fades. I was well known here, then I took a 3 month break, came back and no one knew who the hell I was.
and all these new features popped up. wtf.

no once you're a nicely-liked consumer, many human beings (like me) assume that the question isn't long and certain. The silliest question gets a lot of solutions seeing this is the only way many human beings can say perverted stuff for no reason :)

Well I know I wouldn't consider myself popular. I can't even get anyone to read my new blog articles.
Maybe some people are popular but I think it has to do more with their intensity, personality, and communications with other users.

No, probably Polls & Surveys. If you want a relatively objective measure, check out the top of the leaderboard, click on their "fans" page, and see how many each one has. That's the "popularity" measure, if there is one.

The concept still exists in adulthood, they just disguise it with other words.

This isn't high school, and honestly to me it doesn't matter who is popular or not. If your nice, and show respect, that's better than most people.
