I would probably take it out. I got my cartilage peirced with a gun, and I loved the way it looked originally, but I think it can shatter the cartilage. I had two in my cartilage on the same ear for about 9 months and it never healed all the way. It got these strange bumps, and I cleaned it twice a day every day. I suggest possibly taking it out and getting it done at a peircing or tattoo parlor. They dont use a gun and will not do as much damage to the cartilage.

getting a cartilage piercing with a gun was inadvisable.

you shouldn't necessarily remove it - if it's infected, removing it's a bad idea (the edges will heal up leaving infection inside the ear), it may be red and painful but that's due to the trauma of the piercing. keep it clean (use salt water solutions) and don't play with it
