Okay, so here is the situation so far. I bought french doors at the local Home Depot on a weekend. I asked that I be called about the 'measuring' appointment before I left town the following Wednesday. I got the call Wednesday evening around 8 pm (they left voice mail) after I had already left. I get back and one other voice mail had been left on Sunday evening (which I found odd). I called when I returned on Wednesday, I didn't get a call back Wednesday. Finally got a call back late Thursday. The guy that is supposed to measure for the door says.. "I can come tomorrow", but I had to go back to work that day... he said he could measure from the outside of the house while I was at work. When I got home from work I could find no evidence he'd measured. I received no call from Home Depot about paying for the balance on the door or for scheduling the installation. I called Saturday morning, and was told they would 'leave a message' for the measuring guy (more in details).

I received no call on Monday at all. I called Tuesday morning and it took then about 15 minutes to figure out they didn't have the information. They said they'd check on it and give me a call back. After a few minutes I got a call and was told that the measure had been done on Friday and that they would be in contact with me about about paying the balance on the door and scheduling installation. Okay, so now it is Wednesday, I didn't get any call from them yesterday.. I am still waiting. I paid for the measuring on June 2 and I still haven't heard if the door will actually fit. I don't know what to do! I really am so angry I am almost willing to give up this door and go shop for another.. but it was a return/clearance item and I doubt I'll find a better deal. ArGh!! Am I just unlucky here? Or is Home Depot installation always this PATHETIC?

Update: I called a remodeling guy that lives across the street about the installation. He's agreed to take a look at it and give me a quote this evening. Still no phone call from Home Depot at 12:46 pm.

I have always had a problem with paying a store to "give" a job to someone else. Their contractors are screened and have a contract with the store but most have their own business and can be contracted independently for less money.

I have had a terrible experience with Home Depot installing gutters. Home Depot is unable to coordinate the scheduling with the contractors. I have taken 2 days off of work to be present for the installation and each time the contractor is not ready to install. The first time was because Home Depot did not give them the color for the gutters and the second time, I was just not on the contractor s schedule even thought told by Home Depot that I was. Thus far, it has been over a month since I signed the contract and nothing has been done.

Wish I had read these reviews before I start with Home Depots water tank installation. $40 just to get started. Contractor not showing up. Labour cost increased by 300%. And the whole event is not over yet. Avoid Home Depot, wish I had read more reviews.

I had no trouble with my door installation although someone was available at home all the time. It sounds like it may be the subcontractors fault rather than home depot. If things have been bad enough you should find the manager and request a new contractor to instal the door and a 10% discount because it has been almost 3 weeks.

Well I'll go ahead and tell you that I worked at home depot a year and a half and this is typical of their service. You have get what you pay for and cheap deals are the main reason people go to the depot now, lowe's has much better service from what I have heard I guess they are more expensive though. I wish I had worked for lowe's instead they were a far cleaner store. They are slowly putting home depot out of business they were killing our store in my town. But anyway I hope it finally works out for you, you are probably going to have raise you no what to get it done and done right. When you are finally done I would recommend not going there anymore but that is up to you.

I purchased 230 feet of active yards privacy fence and installation for just under 10k. Home depot left me with $37,000.00 worth of damages from their contractor Andersons installation. The spilled concrete mix all over my property. They spilled motor oil all down my driveway from their work truck. I tried to sue them for the damages but it would have costed me about $40,000.00 in legal fees to go to trial. Attorneys are like $300 an hour! Please learn from my very expensive mistake and do not get services from home depot or waste your time shopping there. I looked up andersons on the google reviews and found 9 other complaints in the past year and a half. The home depot has thousands upon thousands of complaints with the BBB but somehow they maintain an A+ ratting.

Home depot will hire the cheapest contractor to do your job. If you look at some of the instalation prices they are pretty expensive considering if you just hire a handy man to do it. They do this for insurance.

I can feel your pain. Been down the same road with front doors for the house. Did finally get them installed but would never recommend them or use them again. Just keep dinging their helmet, cause that's what it takes. Good luck and let this just be a learning experience.

After reading some of the other complaints, my 3 month delay (for service promised in 5-7 weeks) sounds like whining. Still I thought they should have been honest about the realistic time frame and stayed in touch with me as time passed. Good luck, everyone!
