Yes, we are. People like primoa are bigoted fools who would rather carry around hatred and lies than to bother to learn what we really believe.

You are right. Catholics are Christians. I think, often the division stems from so many protestant denominations being different from Catholicism, that people tend to call them Christian and us Catholic.
I think some of the answers are so interesting. So much misunderstanding of Catholicism. Such as the Pope being the big boy of Catholicism...no Jesus Christ is. Also, one statement that we put tradition above scripture. No we don't we put sacred tradition on the same level as sacred scripture. And the statue of St. Peter needing to have the toe repaired because of being kissed...kissing is not worshiping. If it is, then we all need to stop kissing our families, friends, our kid's hurt fingers, our pets, etc. Kissing is love and veneration. It is not worship. Kissing the statue of St. Peter or kissing the cross...show our love for what the object represents. We know that. The only people who don't know that are the ones who have a negative assumption to start with.

i like your reaction to those people who attempt to precise off the Catholic church it particularly is the actual Christian faith for 1billion, 60million human beings and counting. This previous Easter there have been actually hundreds of protestants and fundamentalist's Christians who have been the two baptized or shown or the two into the Roman Catholic Church interior the united statesA. on my own. Please decrease out the b.s. whilst it involves catholics no longer examining the bible. we've been examining it for hundreds of years, yet interior the final 50+ years the Church is encouraging us much extra so. The cautionary suggestion has constantly been to envision with your community pastor to confirm that your information of a passage in scripture they could be difficult you may properly be extra advantageous understood. Why? The JW have desperate that Jesus is unquestionably St. Micheal the Archangel from scripture. it particularly is barely one misinterpretation between many, many, others distinctive human beings and church homes could make.

We are one and the same. The divisons are purely artificial, historical, political and above all - wrong. I'm Orthodox and I've never felt any different from my brothers, the Catholics and the Protestants. If you believe Jesus is the Son of God and a manifastation of God Himself, you're with me. We all go to churches on Sunday and read from the same scripts, we all honour the Virgin, pray and celebrate Christmas and Easter...Where's the difference?

Catholics were the first Christians. Peter one of Jesus disciples was apparently the first Catholic Pope in historical terms. The name Pope wasn't around then but he was the first
leader in the Catholic religion. you can't be anymore Christian than that.

You are right. Within the Roman Catholic church there are probably many who truly believe in Christ as their Savior, and are headed to heaven. However, within this denomination, as in all other denominations, there are people who are trusting something else for salvation. (ie works, family ties, etc) I think it is quite interesting that Our Lord saw the division that was coming long before, even before He went to the cross. In the Garden of Gethsemane He prayed for Unity. That really should be our prayer today; that all of the body of Christ would be united and begin to work together with their common bond in Jesus to fulfill the mission He has laid before us.
Great Question and Point!

Yes, you are absolutely right. Cathoplics are Christians.
Roman Catholicism is a Christian denomination. The name "Catholic Church" originated in 107 AD when Ignatius of Antioch used the phrase to describe Jesus' "Church.
Catholics adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ who founded this Church. Acts 11,26 defines Christian an "adherent" of Christ. The word Catholic simply means the larger or universal church. The early church fathers were the first to use it. For example the epistles of James, Peter, John and Jude are referred to as the Catholic Epistles. So when we say the Catholic Church, we mean the universal Christian Church.
Anti-Catholics often suggest that Catholicism did not exist prior to the Edict of Milan, which was issued in 313 AD and made Christianity legal in the Roman Empire. With this, pagan influences began to contaminate the previously untainted Christian Church. In no time, various inventions adopted from paganism began to replace the gospel that had been once for all delivered to the saints. At least, that is the theory.
This accusation does not hold water because Jesus Christ promised to guide his Church till the end of the age.
"And so I tell you. Peter; you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven." - Matthew 16,18-20
"And teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28,20
"I have told you this while I am still with you, The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you". - John 14, 25
"When, however, the Spirit comes who reveals the truth about God, he will LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH." - John 16,13
After making the above promises are you now saying that Jesus cannot be relied upon to keep his word?
Pagan Influence Fallacy
Opponents of the Church often attempt to discredit Catholicism by attempting to show similarities between it and the beliefs or practices of ancient paganism.
Ultimately, all attempts to prove Catholicism "pagan" fail. Catholic doctrines are neither borrowed from the mystery religions nor introduced from pagans after the conversion of Constantine. To make a charge of paganism stick, one must be able to show more than a similarity between something in the Church and something in the non-Christian world. One must be able to demonstrate a legitimate connection between the two, showing clearly that one is a result of the other, and that there is something wrong with the non-Christian item.
In the final analysis, nobody has been able to prove these things regarding a doctrine of the Catholic faith, or even its officially authorized practices. The charge of paganism just doesn’t work.
May the Lord's peace be with you!

Some people don't seem to understand they are a type of Christian and were, basically, the first concrete Christian body.

Actually christian means "to follow the messiah", not "to believe in christ". But yes, I believe that catholics are christians because they follow christ who is their messiah. Anyone who thinks different is just being silly.

NO... The DEFINITION is NOT a BELIEVER, but a FOLLOWER.
Since your proposition began with a false premise, you should not expect to have a valid result. While some do CLAIM that it only takes belief to make one a Christian, scripture makes it very plain that the claim is false. See for instance:
James 2:19 You believe there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that. And they tremble!
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who do what my Father in heaven wants will enter.
Now, to further answer your presumption, by placing "church tradition" as more important than scripture, the catholic church ABANDONED TRUE Christianity long before the end of the fourth century. Since that time, they have not been following the teachings of the apostles as they presented God's NEW covenant, but the teachings of men WHICH CANNOT SAVE.

Asking Christians not to be devisive and judgemental is like asking an Oil Company to stop screwing the public. A nice sentiment, but probably not going to happen.
