Hey, that's a whole range of really personal questions. I've been on my diet for a couple of months and am losing approximately 1-2lb per week. How do I do that - by watching what I eat, eating less and avoiding chocolate. That doesn't mean no chocolate - it just means eating less of it. I intend to get down to a weight where I can go into ANY shop and they'll definitely have my size - I think I've bought enough pairs of shoes.
I have set a goal and the milestones needed to get there. I also do a little more exercise daily - I've got a push-bike with a cycling computer - that allows me not only to see that I've travelled approximately the same distance as yesterday, it also tells me how long it took to do it.
Is it healthy - yes, do I enjoy it - yes, will I keep doing it - yes.
Fad diets last only a few weeks / months - when they stop, the weight tends to pile back on (but you know that). If you're changing your diet, it has to change for life. Eat more veggies, stay away from sources of hard fats, (though a little of what you fancy does you good) generally, just stay more in control.
Does my diet interfere with my life, no. We all have to eat - it's just what you eat that is important. My life has adapted to enable me to eat healthily.
It's the exercise that is difficult - but, just get up half an hour earlier and use that time to do it before your day begins - you can say that it's done then as opposed to doing it later, when you're tired and can't be bothered - but you'll make up for it tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...
The costs of changing your diet are minimised by the fact that you're no longer feeding yourself rubbish. You do have to buy clothing for the sports activities you get involved with, but this, in turn, allows you to broaden your range of activities, you become more sociable and make loads of new friends - what cost can you put on that!

I'm 5'0 tall I weighed 130 lbs. I'm 93lbs now. Also my mom lost 20lbs in 6 months while I was losing weight because I was cooking and she had broken her leg so physical therapy and my cooking!
I walked a lot and didn't eat anything fried anything that was junk food, I only ate what I cooked which was mostly fresh veggies and lean meats. Only fruits and uncooked veggies for snacks, I basically decided that once every two weeks I'd have 1 item of junk to eat which was usually a small bags of chips or a doughnut because otherwise it would have never worked. No it was not easy, god I wanted Arbys sooo bad ... But I needed to lose the weight.
It took a few months to get all the weight off but slowly it came off. Yes I've kept it off for a year. I walk every day and I treat myself once every two weeks to a bag of potato chips and starbursts. I also no longer own a car so I now HAVE to walk.

weight before: 120kg - 15yrs.
weight after: 95 - 15.5yrs
How Lost: Every day after school, I went down to the park around the corner and ran my guts out playing football (AFL); practising on my own.
Was it easy? No. It sure was fun though.
Keep it off? I joined Zest health clubs, and from April 06 to September 06 went from 95 to 65. am currently 71.35kg with 8% body fat, and 64kg muscle.
Healthy way? I guess, but i work too hard too much.
it improved my life.
