My "boyfriend", who is Bahamian, wants to move to the US. But we don't want to get a fiance' Visa. Is there any other way that he can come here and work while we work on a relationship?

I don't think he can work if he gets a student visa. Those are two separate issues. Also, you don't need a Green Card to work legally in this country, you need a Work Permit. This is valid for one year. Fiance Visa may be the only way to go.

He could, however, get a Visitors' Visa and come here for 3 months (can't work or go to school) and then return to the Bahamas and file for a K-1. Also, you don't NEED a lawyer, you can fill the paperwork out yourself. Read more about it here:

Legal marriage is the only way to get green card and work authorization otherwise he will be illegal, right now there is no chance he can travel via plane to US because you require a US passport or Visa to enter the country

Fiance Visa does not provide work authorization, once you get married you can apply for green card, which must be accomplished within 3 months of fiance Visa in US. Either way if you are US citizen, you have job, health insurance, own or rent home/apartment, and are financially stable, it will take around 3 months to get Fiance Visa. Its costs around $1500-$2500 with all the fees depending on your attorney.

It depends on his education and professional background.

If he has good education and background, he can get a work visa.

Or he can get student visa.

He can definitely come here on visitor visa to spend some time with you and get to know each other better.

Your question is too wide to get a straight good answer.

take a stright edge, draw a line from Bahamas to Charleston, then grab a boat and follow the line. Thats what they do in Mexico, only they swim.

I have no idea.

But just wanted to tell you, you sound very level headed. Good for you for not getting the fiance Visa.

Probably on a jet, but a cigar boat will do the trick too, just not as fast.

Fly into America, carry a Mexican flag and blend in with the illeal aliens. You will get amnesty within a few weeks.
