Definitely LCD. They have a longer lifespan and plasmas have a tendency to burn images onto the screen - for example if you watch a lot of one channel and they have a logo in the corner, when you watch another channel, the shadow of the logo will still be there as it burns into the screen.

1080i 1080p 720 all swimming in your head. I purchased my wide screen for $7000 five years ago. The story was then plasma will wear out My Sony Wega still has great picture quality. Modern flat panel LCD's were not as good then. Whatever makes you happy then get home and find a provider with lot's of promises and not much HD to watch even put up an antenna for broadcast HD. Texas instrument Digital Light Processer really impressive but a bit limited viewing angle.

32" or lower LCD
Anything above Plasma
Best LCD's - Panasonic, Sony
Best Plasma- Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony
Lifespan - Its a myth that plasmas dont last as long as Lcd's, but if you leave the same channel on continuously, you can have the logo burn into the screen (whether this happens to all plasmas or not, I couldn't tell you.
I've even heard you have to refill the gas each year, which again is rubbish.
Also, buy your tv online, as you wil save hundreds of pounds.
Hope this helps.
Good luck choosing (been there, done that)

Anyone who says, "LCD lasts longer than plasma" is truly ignorant. It might have been true 5 years ago, but not now.
If you buy either a plasma or LCD television today, they will both last around for 60,000 hours of normal use.
As far as picture quality is concerned, most people actually prefer plasma, when they are not being baffled by sales-speak and B.S. -

Depends how big you mean, for anything big e.g. >30" i would go for a plasma i think the picture looks better, problem with LCD is you can lose some of the quality when you look at them at an angle. However if its smaller than this then LCD is better value for money
