I am talking about what aspect, what makes somebody cool?
The hip hop culture in the media is involved at spreading it around the globe but why would many people of other races think blacks are cool? What is cool about them?
Why are they considered cool by many and copied?
Why is it as soon as a black person does something it is considered cool to do it?
Is it their confidence and masculinity?
Why do they have influence?
Blacks also seem to be more charismatic, dominant, intimidating, confident and authoritative when they speak
Is it that they don’t give a **** what anyone thinks?
The way the walk and talk smooth?
A way to fit in?
why is the hiphop culture accepted by many of all races?
This is a question and I am not trying to offend people I am really curious.

kc_6201, I respect your opinion but hip hop is cool because is dominantly socially accepted. Why is being an EMO or listening to Heavy Metal more intelligent or cool? It’s not like what they talk about is actually not retarded most of the time.

just another yahoo I…,
i never said "all" people think blacks are cool i just said why do people think they are cool which does not mecciseraly mean all...
you accuse me of stereotping which i never because never said all black people are cool but i only used stereotyping for emo and heavy metal to prove a point it was wrong to steroetype hip hop as uninteligent because i could esally do the same(i dont like this especially because it could be used for racisim)...
i don't care where people learned to act like black people but what makes acting like that to be preceived as cool?
why do you say people stereotype when it does not necercerly mean "all" but is ambigous....

I personally so far think the answer for the reason why is because people associate black people with the hip hop culture which is considered coolest by many. i also think that black people tend to be intimidating to people and act more masculine which may keep haters quiet.
It is a sub-culture or culture people Fit into and for some reason it is accepted and respected a lot.
hmm This question is actually more complicated than the title....
i might give up....

Daniel, well done! Im surprised that som folks here thot ur against BLACK ppl. I think its clear thta ur Black even if ur avatar was purple or green!
I will giv u a star 4 that q. Now, it is TRUE that BLACKS from all around the globe are COOL, and i would go on about the reasons for it till the evening but dont have time.
So, to da person who said its the hip hop culture and not the race-- wrong, wrong wrong lady!!!
It is the culture of the Black ppl- Daniel, its very true that Black ppl are generally more confident, esp girls/women, they are stronger mentally, they happen to have the most beautiful bodies (even when no muscles, its the shape that counts, nice round shapes, eg I personally love my African's man plump a** though mine bigga than his surprisingly LOL), and they have had a huge influence on the mainstream culture thanks to the spread of hip hop + r & b. Like every genre, hip hop n r & b can offer u commercial uninteligents songs like Afromans "Coz i got high" etc as well as it can offer you a whole spectrum of amazing tracks that can give u soo much spiritual strength eg Erykah Badu '4 leaf clover', 'Dear Mama' by 2Pac, 'Keep ur head up' by Tupac, AND I COULD GO ON LIKE THAT FOR DAYS!
Yes Daniel, it is also they way Blacks just care less abt what others think.
Its also they way they talk- which is cool whether u like ir or not. (and for God's sake, dont nobody dare say it is broken English, it is not., I have a Masters in linguistics and did reserach on different vernaculars of Black English such as African American English, Jamaican ENglish., and...believe it or not but these langauges derive from West African langauges too- thats why we dont have "ed" in past tense coz Wst African lngs do not have this "ed" suffix"..and AGAIN i could go on for hours)
Anyway, gotta go...Daniel, choose my nswer as the Best man ! :)

They are? When did that happen?
Oh, you mean by kids that don't have any idea about what being "cool" is. I got you.
I'm not knocking black people, just the Rap/Hip Hop culture and ghetto vernacular. If you don't understand what I mean just watch "Flavor of Love" sometime.
By the way, I just realized that "I got you" might be considered something that these people would say, but most of them would probably have said and/or spelled it "I ga chu" or something similar.
P.S. I'm not racist. I have no problem with intelligent, well spoken people of any race/color. I really don't have any problem with the ones that aren't these things either; they can just get on my nerves sometimes.
I sorry if you don't like the tone of what I typed, believe me, I didn't want it to come out that way. I'm just trying to speak my mind.
------------
Really I just meant the way these artists and fans talk. It just makes them seem not very intelligent. I'm not saying that emo (ha ha) is cool. These kids are just as bad, if not worse. Some of them don't even understand that cutting yourself is a bad thing. One problem I do have with the music (hip hip and rap that is) is the disrespect of women that is prevalent in a lot of the songs. Also that whole "player" mentality. Sorry if I offended you.
And I never said that the music is unintelligent itself; I don't know where you got that from. Some of the music is really controversial and does make you think.

I don't think it's the race. I think it's the culture of hip hop.
What about the native Africans? Few seem to care about their culture.

You're making an awful lot of assumptions. Firstly, you have no idea what everyone in the world thinks, so it's rather ridiculous to assume that hip hop culture has spread "black coolness" around the globe. Secondly, since hip hop is a culture, it isn't embraced (or even accepted) by everyone. Not even all black people embrace it, much less non-blacks. Therefore, it should be quite obvious to you that hip hop isn't the equivalent of "black coolness". Furthermore, not everyone who "copies" blacks is "copying" blacks who embrace hip hop. And, for that matter, not everyone who embraces black culture(s) is doing so in the spirit of "copying". There are many people who were raised by, and/or among, black people. And there are others who simply feel more "comfortable" with black culture(s) than others.
"Blacks also seem to be more charismatic, dominant, intimidating, confident and authoritative when they speak"
----This is merely your opinion based upon what you have observed. If you are assuming that all black people are as such then you are stereotyping them just the same as do many non-blacks. A stereotype is a stereotype regardless of whether or not it is "positive", and it's NEVER a good thing. "Positive" stereotypes feed racism even more than negative stereotypes, because so many people refuse to take them seriously and think they are harmless. But, just like negative stereotypes, they are rooted in the idea that race, gender, sexuality, etc... are predeterminants.
"Is it that they don’t give a **** what anyone thinks?
The way the walk and talk smooth?"
----Neither is an explanation since not all black people are the same.
"A way to fit in?"
----Fit in? Anyone who wants to "fit in" among a certain group of people will most likely adopt certain behaviors that are common in that particular group. So logic suggests that if an individual wants to "fit in" among those who embrace hip hop then that person will behave as such. You've answered your own question.
"why is the hiphop culture accepted by many of all races?"
----For the same reasons why many other cultures are accepted by various races. People do what they want for their own reasons.
"Why is being an EMO or listening to Heavy Metal more intelligent or cool? It’s not like what they talk about is actually not retarded most of the time"
----This comment is just as stereotypical as comments that claim hip hop to be unintelligent. You cannot fight stereotypes with stereotypes. It keeps the cycle of ignorance going. Besides, there's no such thing as unintelligent music. This applies to all genres. Only PEOPLE can be unintelligent.
"I don't think it is right to say hip-hop is stupid and unintelligent"
----I don't think it's right either. (Note what I said above). However, you go on to say- "because no offence to Emo or Heavy metal but they seem to talk about stuff like blood suicide etc now how is that intelligent..."- which is just as bad, because you are speaking yet another stereotype. Attacking emo and heavy metal isn't a defense of hip hop. You're not making a point.
Senorita said: "Now, it is TRUE that BLACKS from all around the globe are COOL, and i would go on about the reasons for it till the evening but dont have time."
----Do you even realize what "cool" means? Does Daniel even understand? True, cool can equate to terms such as "excellent", "great", "wonderful", etc... But the context in which Daniel used the word "cool", it implies "accepted" or "acceptable". And, with racism running rampant, I think that blacks being accepted all around the globe is highly debatable.
"So, to da person who said its the hip hop culture and not the race-- wrong, wrong wrong lady!!!"
----Daniel's question focuses upon hip hop, so how can you say she's wrong? By saying that she is wrong, that people are "copying" the black race rather than the hip hop culture, you are saying that all blacks embrace hip hop culture. This makes YOU wrong, wrong, wrong, lady.
"It is the culture of the Black ppl"
----What is the culture of black people? Are you suggesting that there is only one black culture?
"Daniel, its very true that Black ppl are generally more confident, esp girls/women, they are stronger mentally, they happen to have the most beautiful bodies"
----This statement is nothing more than stereotypes/opinions.
"and they have had a huge influence on the mainstream culture thanks to the spread of hip hop + r & b."
----I find it rather disgusting that there are still so many people who limit their knowledge of black people to hip hop and R&B and think these are their only influences.
"Like every genre, hip hop n r & b can offer u commercial uninteligents songs like Afromans "Coz i got high" etc as well as it can offer you a whole spectrum of amazing tracks that can give u soo much spiritual strength..."
----I completely agree with you. I applaud you for not stereotyping music genres. Thank you.
"Yes Daniel, it is also they way Blacks just care less abt what others think."
----Again, not all black people are the same.
"Its also they way they talk- which is cool whether u like ir or not."
----Not all black people talk the same. Not all black people speak Black Vernacular English, and not all black people who speak Black Vernacular English speak the same sub-dialect of Black Vernacular English.
"(and for God's sake, dont nobody dare say it is broken English, it is not., I have a Masters in linguistics and did reserach on different vernaculars of Black English such as African American English, Jamaican ENglish., and...believe it or not but these langauges derive from West African langauges too- thats why we dont have "ed" in past tense coz Wst African lngs do not have this "ed" suffix"..and AGAIN i could go on for hours)"
----I completely agree with you about this. People who claim that BVE is "improper" are nothing less than ignorant. If Shakespeare were alive today, I wonder what HE would think of THEIR English. I'm sure you understand my point, so I won't continue.
