I have been having severe tooth pain for several days now. I haven't eaten or slept very well since it started. my face is swollen and ora-gel isn't working at all. I put my fingers on the tooth and it moves slightly side to side. Would it be bad to take some needle-nose pliers and pull it out? I'm 37 years old and have never had problems with my teeth before. Would I be able to stop the bleeding myself? (no health or dental insurance!!!)

Some Dr. Offices will take payments for service. And it sounds to me that you already have an infection (because of the swelling) and how are you going to kill that when pulling your own tooth. Listen put the pliers down and get to the denist.

If it is a back molar you will probably only break the top off and the roots would be left. However, front teeth have only 1 root and if loose usually come out much easier. Clove oil burns like hell and then numbs quite well. It isn't a good idea to pull your own tooth, but usually if you mess up you only break the top off leaving the root but it does allow drainage of the infection easing some pain usually. Dentists is best obviously.

Pliers won't work. You will crack the tooth into pieces, cause yourself even more pain, and injure yourself seriously.

To extract the tooth, you should go to a dentist. He has the right instruments for the job and he will be able to numb you up so you won't be hurting, unlike doing it yourself.

Go to a dental school if money is an issue. They have emergency walk-in clinics to see patients in pain, and they charge about half what a regular dentist charges.
