I don't agree. Here's why:
There's a group of people who believe that the reason that things float around in the Space Shuttle is that the Space Shuttle is in free fall, falling continuously as it orbits the Earth. Those people - I'm one of them - believe that they're right about that, and that anyone who believes otherwise is wrong.
There's a FAR larger group of people who believe that the reason that things float around in the Space Shuttle is that the Shuttle is so far away from Earth that it has escaped the Earth's gravitational field. Those people also believe that they're right, but in fact, they're wrong.
Now, is it "stupid" for the people in the first category to think that they're right and everyone else is wrong? I don't think so. In fact, they ARE right, and everyone else IS wrong.
Now, with respect to religious belief, we have the same kind of situation. There are lots and lots of people with various false religious beliefs, and then there are people who correctly believe that there is no god. Why would it be "stupid" for those with the correct answer to think that they have the correct answer while everyone else is wrong?
I don't like egg salad at all, but that's just a matter of taste. I'll have the pasta salad, please.

Peoples beliefs are not truly theres. First the sun was "god" then Earth was the center of the universe.. Dare anyone dispute that! When that was proven wrong, all these other religions popped up. And when we find ET's then we'll add 100 more religions.
All religions are rivers that lead to the same ocean. For a god to put 6,000,000,000 people on a rock without any proof of a superior being, throw in 100 or so religions and let them fight it out is just wrong, illogical, and a bit sadistic.
(as most world wars are over religion.. including Iraq)

Sometimes it is a good idea not to serve egg salad. It has mayonnaise in it and we all know how quickly mayonnaise can go bad.

Being "right" is a defense mechanism for stupid people. Being "wrong" is just stupid people who have been "proved" wrong too many times by other stupid people.
Myself....It all "is as it is"....why argue?

Yes and no. Actually, most people are stupid.
And most fit well into this quote,
"You can remain silent and be thought an idiot, Or, you can open your mouth and remove all doubt." ( author unknown )

If people don't believe their particular belief is the real truth, then what would be the point in believing?
