The inspired Word of God never goes out of date.

It always teaches us about God's love for us and how we should live our lives.

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

With love in Christ.

Just because something is old does not at all mean it's either unreliable or outdated--a faulty notion far too many people have. We use mathematical principles that were created thousands of years ago and never question their truth. We quote authors such as Homer or Socrates or Aristotle and scholars don't doubt the source of their writings or the veracity of the things they claim. On top of that, the sheer amount of archaeological evidence that confirms places that are mentioned in the Bible shows that those places did in fact exist, not to mention the thousands of ancient Biblical texts (such as the Dead Sea scrolls) that have been shown to be consistent and unchanging over thousands of years. And as we find even older documents, those are used in further translation projects as well--the farther back the documents go, the closer they are to the time when they were first written, thus giving as close to a first-generation account of the events of the Bible as we could hope to find. And the message of the Bible--God's love for us and His offer of eternal life through Jesus Christ--is absolutely timeless. So quite to the contrary of the Bible being outdated, there's nothing in this world that is more relevant to our lives.

Because it is purchased by missionaries that disseminate it throughout the world. This does NOT prove its divinity - only that a lot of people believe in it. However, if you want to go on longevity alone, the Bhagavad-Gita or "Hindu Bible" has been around for about 3,000 years more than the Bible, and the Australian Aborigine's have had a culture for about 50,000 years at least. If God was omnipotent, he could have revealed himself all over the world 50,000 years ago, but didn't. There isn't even any reference to North and South America, Australia, or Antarctica in the Bible - does that mean they didn't exist? The Bible IS out of date, and archaeology is the proof that it can't be considered completely accurate. There is wisdom to be taken from it, but there is also wisdome to be taken from Popular Mechanics - that doesn't make the magazine "holy".

The Bible explains about the beginning and the end of humanity as we know it. So how can you say the Holy Bible is out of date? I completely agree with Steve b's opinion on that the Bible is not out of date because it is still useful and to my knowledge, nothing has come along that is better to replace the Bible. Another deciding factor could be that the end itself the Bible explains about has not happened. So therefore the Bible would not be out of date.

As far as it being the most widely read and biggest selling book in the world is because it contains knowledge of God. Humans have always been driven to get know God better, and obviously the Holy Bible has a wealth of knowledge about God. The Bible also contains truth within it. These truths help guide along our paths with Christ and allow us to grow closer to God as our lives progress.

It is absolutely NOT the most widely read book. In fact, the majority of people never even open it even if they own one. The most widely read book is either Mao Tse Tung's Little Red Book or - if you only want recent sales - Harry Potter.

Nor is the Bible the best selling book, except in cumulative sales. Its not even in the best seller list at the moment, while "God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" is at number 28.

It only exists in large numbers because it has been forced on people for centuries.

It is protected by God himself.
(Revelation 22:18-19) “I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.

during the middle ages, major religeous organisations kept the Bible away from ordinary people, and bringing in false teaching. Thes falsities were uncovered by the religious reformation that led to Protestantism. Afflicted people from many European countries had to flee.
In spite of many efforts to hide what the Bible really teaches, God in His wisdom has made sure that it is now available to the whole world.

Why would you say it is "out of date?" By that standard then every book has an ending date where it is no longer useful. Would you say the voodoo book written by Darwin is out of date? Must be.

The Bible is the most widely read book ever to published because many, like me, believe it speaks the truth. Truth is never "out of date." The truth then is the same truth today.

It has the truth that leads to everlasting life.
It's not out of date because, it has foretold our present conditions on the earth, and has foretold what our future on earth will be.
Unlike philosophy, which really answers no questions, and, has no end because it is truly made up from man's wandering mind,----the Bible has a beginning, a climax, and a wonderful ending for mankind in the future.

If I can play along with your little game(hehehe): great scholars from around the scientific world study scientific text books, investigate what it says for incorrect interpretations, and often change it. This has happened for centuries.

Great scholars from around the religious world study the religious text book(bible), investigate what it says for incorrect interpretations, and leave it the same. This has happened for centuries.

You can draw your own conclusions.
