Because when the Jewish religion was revealed, it was revealed to a specific group of people aka God's chosen people. Christianity and Islam came after, therefore Jews consider themselves chosen by God to be the first to receive His word.

Because they were the chosen race in the Old Testament, quite clearly chosen out of the nations and set apart for God. They were to be a 'light to the Gentiles,' showing others the right way to live, and allowing 'aliens' to become like them, following the Law. Christians believe the law was fulfilled in Jesus, but many Jews are still waiting for their promised messiah, so for them they are still the 'apple of God's eye' (which is in the bible somewhere.) God has promised to restore the Jewish nation at the end of our times.

Because at one time they were.Due to the obedience and loyalty displayed by Abraham,Jehovah made a covenant with Abraham that his descendents would be a chosen nation,a special property. However despite Israel's repeated acts of disobedience,Jehovah persevered with them. But the last straw was the putting to death of His only begotten Son,Jesus by the very people who should have embraced Him as their Saviour. It was then they lost their favoured position and standing and were no longer Jehovah's chosen race.

Please seem at it this way: God had a plan to handle sin and idolatry as quickly as and for all. after we talk of "chosen human beings" it extremely potential that God chosen a human beings to be set aside to bless them, make His call super. He may well be their God and that they may well be His human beings and save His commandments, oral and written. God promised, via Abraham, the father of the Hebrew usa, that he may well be the father of many different countries. they do no longer seem to be extra advantageous, basically chosen with the help of a sovereign God. in the time of the Israelites, the plan of salvation develop into to the Jew first, then the gentile. The final area of God's promise started out to be fulfilled in Christ at His first coming; yet isn't thoroughly fulfilled until the Lord Jesus Christ returns to this earth as Lord of Lord and King of Kings to take a seat on the Throne of His father David and reign in righteousness. <><

Before Jesus, there was only one religion that followed God. That was Judaism. After Jesus died at the hands of some non-believing Pagans, Judaism slowly became two religions: one that believed in Jesus as the son of God (Christianity) and one that recognized Him as a prophet only (the new Judaism). Before this split, God designated Jews as His chosen people, as they were the only ones who believed in Him. Now, they retain this title, although they reject His Son.

jews believe that every human being and animal is under a covenant with G-d, not just jews. our covenant is just different, and quite a bit more difficult to keep. a gentile can eat a cheeseburger without committing a sin, a jew cannot. but since G-d demands far more service and sacrifices from jews and is more lenient towards non-jews, he also promises to protect israel forever so that they can never be destroyed. which seems to be pretty true, since every civilization has risen and fallen but the jews have outlasted them all.
