In the past few weeks there has been a lot to say about a so-called `god,` which everyone describes as a `he.`
Where is the proof that it is a `he?`
Does `he` have a sexual organ? If so, why?
Does he need to pass water? If so, why?
If `he` is a `he` why did he send down his `holy ghost` to `plant his seed` in Mary?
Why didn`t `he` do it himself or the way he does everything else? By magic? Or whatever.
Face the facts, the bible is full of more holes than a fisherman`s net.

Oi vay shmear, another uneducated person who thinks they've found a loophole in the Bible.

First, do you not know ANYTHING about patriarchal societies? The Middle East in this time was run by men, so men would want to make the most powerful creature in the world/heaven male. Also, God originally had a female counterpart named Ba'al when the Torah was first produced, but that was quickly put to a stop because it made women equal to men.

So, no, God does not have a gender, but God was given a gender to give men more power over women and to make everything fall under their domain.

I know this, and yet I'm an atheist, the least you can do is to learn the history of Judaism/Christianity before you post questions like these. This is just plain ignorant.

I can barely stop laughing from reading this long enough to write an answer. In the past few weeks there has been a lot to say about god???? Don't you mean the past few THOUSAND YEARS?

Seriously though, the bible maybe full of holes, but this isnt one of them. The father, son, holy spirit. Adam made in his image etc etc. If you are using the bible to figure out if god is a he or a she, then its clear...god is a he.

To be honest it has nothing to do with science.

The Abrahamic God is supposedly genderless; in which case the god would be referred to as 'it'. That name certainly carries no real weight and just seems to say that their God is sub-human. The use of 'he' instead has two possible explanations, the first one being that men were more dominant at the time and the women were given no real power in which case the God was called he as a sign of male dominance. Another explanation is that originally the word 'he' could refer to any human, just as the word 'man' could. 'He' was effectively a genderless word covering the human race although possibly more dominantly male although that value might have been added later.

God has been referred to as a man, because man not woman run the world, in the past, and the idea that God should be anything other than a man was never even considered, however God is not man or woman but a being of cosmic force, at least that's on idea.

I use "God" or "Goddess" but I don't believe that the Great Spirit is male or female (at least not anatomically). I think the Divine does have a masculine side and a feminine side, though-- Sky Father, Earth Mother, etc.

Because when Jesus walked the earth he called him Father.
2. I don't think he needs to pass water, since you don't need food or will thirst in Heaven.
3.He sent the Holy Spirit down because there is no need or desire for sex in Heaven.
I believe the only thing that is full of holes is your lack of understanding.

Go watch Dogma. it might answer your question and give you a good laugh at the same time!

In short they say that the Bible was written by men in a time where women were lesser than them, hence everything was he, except the bad bits and then it was women; original sin? by a woman! Explained in fully by Serendipity at length in the movie.

You say "Face the facts, the Bible is full or more holes than a fishermans net"......which clearly demonstrates that you have not read the Bible in context and your understanding is nil!
God not only made man in His own image but He also came to earth in human form....Jesus...who is one third of the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)......Jesus called God FATHER..thus indicating that God is male.
The fact that you ask questions such is this gives away your personality and your lack of knowledge but keep seeking friend and you may just find the truth.
Best wishes, Mike.

The bible has no holes. If you read it carefully you will understand all of it. I understand all of it but! the last 2 pages of the apocalipse chapter (yes we are now at this chapter...).
And it does say "only a smart man will understand these words".

Science has holes. Cause you know? all scientists at the end of they`re lifes said: "I bellive in God, he exists" All of them, even the most skeptic of them all.

I have my doubts sometimes, but some people stop belliving cause they think: " I wish for a woman! and money" and if it does not happen they get mad --- this is a stupid, childish behaviour.

So do you think science has no holes? Sure it does, it has more then a black hole :) ---

btw some scientist want to make they`re own small black hole to study it. It is not a lie.

Interestingly enough, a fisherman's net HAS to be full of holes in order to do its job properly.

Thank you for your compliment to the Bible.
