Anyone else find it strange how when it comes to immigration reform?

Question

how those who favor amnesty, or path to citizenship, as they are fond of calling it, always oppose any talk of mandating a secure border first before talk of pardonning the law breaking illegals.
The biggest fear of most americans I think is that they only want to scam us into granting the amnesty plus get their new guest worker programs and still have big holes for a new wave of illegals to flow through. In other words, they have no intention of securing the border at all.

Any one else sees it like I do??

I find it strange that most have you made up your mind without even reading the bill or any documentation that studies the effects that this bill will have on our economy. And I'm talking about expert opinion, not talk show hosts. Most of you, if you took the time to thoroughly investigate the issue independently, would have a different opinion. But, don't take my word for it.

I keep asking question on the limits people want on immigration. The pro's here refuse to discuss it and then redirect the answer on how illegal immigrants are mistreated by their employer. here is a Hispanic leader who spoke against the rally in 05/01/06 and said one of the problem with the rally is no one actually made any real demands. They just protest, but refuse to offer any solution to the problem.

edit: I think's it's funny David likes to generalize that we really don't do any research on this. You must not follow Dar and the stuff people discuss on his question. I was shocked that some of those on here actually watch CSpan to get their info. The reason why I hate the bill is that they shot down the amendment that would forbid Felons from recieving the Z visa. Yeah, that's right , some Felons are allowed to get the Visa if the bill passes. Telling the world we tolerate crime is something any good society should do. That killed it for me.

I am pro-amnesty but read my other responses. My first sentence is "secure, close the borders." Nothing will ever work unless we do that. Then deport all the illegal criminals in the system. Then pave the way for residency or citizenship whatever.

Regrettably, I don't bother with much actual thinking about the topic of reform, since it's clearly an issue that no politician ANYWHERE is ever going to touch. All I can do is sit back, voice my opinion (which is not too different from most of everyone else's), and hope I don't get harrassed by too many folks who usher the diplomatic gem "Who are YOU to deny these poor, downtrodden people the right to a better life???" I'm the native born CITIZEN who is a part of this country and culture and abides by its laws, that's who I am.

Maybe because one they have no intention to secure the border and the illegals don't really want citizenship, just the benefits of the visa without the responsibilities.

You are absolutely correct! It is a shame that the Senate refuses to do the will of the people. I believe in the saying "Keep it simple stupid" and our elected leaders just can't wrap their brains around that concept. The US Border Patrol released a simple six point plan on immigration. Our so called elected officials would do well to read and abide by them.

I agree with you. Secure all of our borders. Including to the north. Then decide what to do with any illegals that are already here.
