Well its not true at all.
i guess some of you actually like the idea of 72 virgin thing, gives you an excuse to bash Islam...hence the thumbs down too. is it really that hard to take in.

>Seriously, why do you accept a pedophile (1), a demon >possessed man (2), a spokesman for the devil (3) and a >coward (4) as your founder?
>
>WHY?
yes, why ? How can so many men believe in and follow him? That's very hard to understand! Is it half of the planet inhabited by crazy people? Probably.
But the answer to that question would be, because none of the hadiths are true. There are even about 3.000 false and fake hadith found in the era of Gazhali (1058-1111 AD), written or spoken by irresponsible people to support their own evil doe.
But most Muslims are ordinary people, just people like you and me, who know by HEART which is true and which is not, even when God keeps His mouth shut!
And they have Quranic verses muslims can compare which hadith comply with quran which is not. Those don't comply, are corrupted.
And that hadith about 60 or 72 or 76 or whatever virgins, to those who believe it coming from religion, are you out of your mind?! Gosh! I can't believe it you guys are actually into that! What makes you different with those silly stupid terrorists???

I think it's 72, but what's the difference. After a few trillion years they would be the biggest tramps this side of Eden. Muslims are the only cult more ridiculous than Christians. If they got some during this life, they might not be so obsessed about eternity with 72. They are insecure. What's so great about virgins? I''ll take experience over repression.

Not "virgins" in a human way....
They are called Houri.
They are basically ghost, they have see though skin and black eyes.
found the verse you speak of:'The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy two wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine and ruby, as wide as the distance from al-Jabiyyah to San'a.
from Al-Bukhari, which is a haditha.
Some muslims may follow this, and some may not. It depends on the way the muslim practices islam that this belief would exist. Most muslims with half a brain and who do not read from Ibn Kathir's Tafsir or follow all the Bukhari without question, consider this not an authentic hadith and ignore it.
edit: 72 Raisons? Why only 72 raisons forever, why can't I have 80 raisons in heaven? that makes even less sense.I could eat 72 raisons right now.If that was true, it would be like the most stupid thing I ever heard......jeeeze, just say it is a bad hadith and Ibn Kathir's Tafsir is wrong. It is that simple.

Sounds a bit like some of the promises made to Christians, doesn't it? Rather than "virgins," you get to sit at the right (or is it the left) hand of god. With, right now, over 8 billion (billion with a B) human beings on Earth, it's gonna be a crowd of folk. Because I want to know more, and to understand Islam better, I am now reading Al-Cor'an...I am not Muslim...,and I'll keep an eye open for the passage.

If you are taught something from childhood on, it is exactly the same as brainwashing. Those who are put through this have no conception that any other way exists, and like most religions, are taught that what they are told to do comes directly from the mouth of God, or Allah, - same difference.
Many religions, cults and other organizations do this. When an extremist group breaks off, hi-jacks the religion to its own ends, (which the religion itself does not condone) and starts these sorts of terrorist activities, it sometimes becomes hard to hold the victims of this brainwashing responsible for their actions, however heinous they might be.
Those knowingly misinterpreting the Qu'ran, or in past days, the Bible, and using to their own ends.... THEY are the ones responsible.
Hey, it may not have such terrible consequences, but for years, (before I discovered I possessed a brain) I, like the rest of Christianity, firmly believed that God sent himself, (as his only begotten son) down to Earth to die an excruciating death on the cross ~ to appease HIMSELF for the sins committed by the creatures he created already knowing precisely how they were going to behave before he did so. After all, by definition God is considered omnicient, and consequently already knows everything, past, present and future, so if that ain't ridiculous, I don't know what is.
In fact, just as ridiculous as being taught that if you do what you are told is God's will, in this case killing infidels - you'll be rewarded with however many virgins (or whatever) in Paradise.
Get minds young, resentful of who they see to be their oppressors (understandably, often) and impressionable enough, and you can make them believe ANYTHING, practically.
That's my oh so humble opinion anyway, and no doubt it will be an extremely unpopular one. Oh well..
(Actually, I think I was moved to reply to this question as much in reply to those putting Muslims down in previous answers, as I was to the original question, which wasn't that heavy)

WOW!!
Has it gone up to 60?
It used to be 20, then 24.
I`m going to have a think about this.
I am nearly 90 and never had as many as 60 virgins in my life!
I had a job finding just one.
One thing, tho`, in the next world we are neither flesh nor blood or both, so what use is 60 virgins with no bodies to a `spirit` with no body?
Surely, only fools would believe that statement?
ps. they must be fools to start with otherwise they would not believe the rubbish about 60 virgins or any virgins come to that.
On that subject of virgins: "What is a Welsh rarebit?"
Answer: "A Cardiff virgin?"

every seen a picture of ben(the guy that we were hunting down) well! I heard than when he lived in the states he could not get a girl friends so he will be total happy now.
I was just wonder what will happen when those 60 virgins are not virgins anymore...will they kill them after they have sex with them which would leave them only to have fun for 60 days.

What a nightmare. can you imagine having to train 60 virgins in the arts of love? All that work overcoming inhibitions, getting to do all the things you like, and all the mess of deflowering? Does the god of islam hate martyrs that much?

Hi!
Those who believe this nonsense are to be pitied. They are the pawns in the hands of abusive people who care nothing for anyone but themselves (they get others to be the martyrs) and have turned their back on Islam.
These abusive anti-Muslims brainwash impressionable kids who don't have enough life experience or knowledge of the Koran to know different. They are murderers who bring shame on themselves and tarnish the good name of Islam just as the Ku Klux Klan bring disgrace upon their cowardly heads and undermine the Christian gospel of love.
Anyway, it's impossible to deflower a virgin when your penis is scattered across the roof of a bus shelter.
Good wishes.

I thought there would be75. At the rate they are blowing themselves up there can't be many virgins left now. When they run out what will they use as an incentive then?
