Catholics do not worship the Blessed Mother or any saint of the Church. We venerate them. There is a big difference between worshiping and venerating a person. How many times do we have to explain this to you?
She is seen as "the mother of Jesus." However, Elizabeth, moved by the Spirit, rightly calls Mary "the mother of my Lord" (Lk 1:43) because she conceived the second person of the Holy Trinity. The Church proclaimed that Mary is truly Mother of God, "Theotokos" (Council of Ephesus).
Peace and blessings!

Mary was chosen of God, to bare the Christ Child. She was virgin until after the birth of Christ. The Christian Bible says she was blessed among woman. But Mary, from my understanding of the Bible, went on to have children with Joseph, her husband. She was like any other woman on earth, except she was blessed of God and conceived a man child without having an earthly father. God's spirit impregnated Mary, and lived in earthly body as Jesus Christ, that is why he is called the Son of God. After he died on the Cross, was resurrected and ascended into heaven, God sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit to dwell with us until the day Christ himself descends from Heaven, appears in Eastern Sky and takes his children home. THIS IS MY OPINION AND BELIEFS ON THE QUESTION.

Dear Robel Tugabu,
Mary is the Mother of Christ- because God chose her to be an instrument of God in that way. There are many people chosen to be instruments of God but they themselves would tell you that Chris is what is important.
When people tried to worship John the Baptist he told them that he was only a forerunner for Christ and that he was not worthy to even "tie his shoe" basically. The apostle John said he must increase and we must decrease.
Yes Mary is a wonderful example of a follower of Christ. She followed Christ as we must all- not follow Mary.
The Bible teaches that there is only one mediator between man and God- and that is Christ Jesus. We should not pray for the dead- because once a person is dead- they have already made a decision about Jesus Christ. They either put their faith in His righteousness and death on the cross or they put their faith in their own righteousness.
As the Bible tells about Mary's deep devotion for God that should be emulated it also teaches us that there is none who is without sin. If Mary was sinless she wouldn't need to follow Jesus because she could depend on her own righteousness.
Mary, like Paul, Peter, John are wonderful examples of people who follow Christ- but they are all saved by Christ's work on the cross and not on their own merits. We should not pray to saints, but pray to Jesus alone.
Kindly,
Nickster

She was a virgin when the Holy Spirit/Ghost entered her and conceived the Son of God, but scripture further reveals that she had other children. She was blessed and honored to carry and birth the Savior, but she was only a human...I don't think that she herself would be comfortable with all of the veneration given her by the Catholic Church.
Let's us just worship God, not the virgin Mary.

Mary was a good woman. But let us not forget that she was only used by God so that He could send His Son Jesus on Earth.
What is sad is, a lot of people right now is praising and worshipping Mary because of what she did. It is like, kissing the AIRPLANE which arrived in the airport, and not the passenger (the loved one) that we have been waiting for. Mary is just an instrument and nothing more. Yes, we commend her for having herself used by God, but let us not forget that the main focus here is Jesus and not her.

Robel.....
Mary was indeed blessed of all women, for no other was chosen.....but Joseph was blessed as well, for HE was chosen to be the step father and angels visited him in his dreams with visions which saved Jesus before and after His birth.
Both Joseph and Mary were trusted to raise Jesus in the right way and treat him as any other child they may have with love, discipline, keeping their faith within the home, and allowing God to be God and Jesus to be Jesus.......
Yet, why is it the Catholic Church, nor any other, raise Joseph up as a Saint?
God will honor your respect and love of Mary, but, Jesus is the one whom we should be keeping our eyes on, NOT Mary.
Peace be with you :)

"no sin touched her"? She sinned like that rest of us, she just didn't have sex before marrage... Lots of people do that.
"She died virgin"??? Then how did Jesus get his brothers? She had sex later on in her life, but not unitl she was married.
Virgin Mary is not special, she was just somebody who God used in his plan... Just like Abraham, Daniel, Paul... Do you pray to them? Praying to anyone other than God or Jesus is a sin!!!

She was blessed but nothing more...God could have picked someone else in the line of David...it did not have to be Mary...she was not holy only blessed. And now she is in heaven but not because any other reason than she excepted her son as her Lord and Savior.
