if simple words upset them their faith can't be that strong.
The Christian faith is constantly being mocked yet Christians have learnt to ignore it.

thank you to everyone who is replying to this question. It's just a question and to simply hurl back insults isn't very clever. A big thank you to any Muslims answering. I wanted this question to be thought provoking and I am genuinely interested in what you all have to say. It's a relevant question today in this troubled world.

I can't recall any Christian suicide bombers in the press recently. muslim people have every right to be upset but not to the point when they feel it's right (as the Pakistan gov recently said) to take some ones life in a terrorist act. surely this is a gross over reaction and wrong in any Gods eyes.

Interesting how the anti-Christians - insomniac and others - rush to suggest that Christian 'angry' reactions are just the same as Muslim 'angry' reactions!
If I understand the original question correctly, the asker is concerned about the burning of flags, effigies and buildings (churches and embassies, for example); rioting over the publication of a cartoon in a newspaper on the other side of the world; the issuing of a 'fatwa' because of the writing of a novel; and the suggestion that the indiscriminate murder and maiming of passers-by by the deliberate action of suicide bombers is justified.
If today's Christians do not react in this kind of way to criticism of them or their God, I would suggest that it is because they think their God is big enough to look after himself.
About Muslims and their reactions I am unable to offer an opinion because I do not know them or their faith sufficiently well.

Well, all believers are really angry when any body outsider criticise their God.
Look in this posts Q & A.
But, I think it depend on what the critics say, I dont think the critics are towards Muslims God, it is more to Muhammad(s.a.w) the critics addressed to; and most of it are not critics it's rediculing muslim's prophet.
Christians may have learnt to ignore it, it is likely because it is not rediculing just simple questions.
It is a significantly different between critics and rediculing. I have been long enough in this R&S section, what I say is what I read.

It seems to me that in some cases Muslim people " want their cake & want to eat it too !" The following is an answer to a question I posted in an Islamic fundamentalist country's category where I asked if Christians were allowed freedom to worship. I live in a western democracy where some Muslims are constantly pressing Government & the legal system about their freedom to worship when there are absolutely no restraints on them ! You judge for yourself !
"They are allowed to hold private services, but not openly and no churches.. You might think this is harsh, but SaudiArabia is a closed Country, you only come here by invite. So you agree to the terms and conditions set forth by the country before you enter. If you dont like this, dont come.. simple as that.. If a neighbor of yours invited you over to dinner and they are vegetarians, you wouldnt bring your roast over and eat it in front of them. You would follow the rules of their house.. right? well its the same in Saudi. You follow the rules of the country of which you were INVITED into to visit/work... deal with it politely... "

That's an interesting question, and I think it reflects certain attitude differences between cultures. I think the issue with Islam (and Islamic cultures) is that they're still very much honor-based cultures. In such a circumstance, when you insult something or someone that a given muslim cares about, you insult an integral part of that individual. We, in the west, don't get up in arms about such things. Now admittedly we don't have honor killings or suicide bombings or embassy burnings, but I have to wonder if our sort of apathy is the answer.
Oh sure, we rationalize it by telling ourselves that God "is above such things", but the reality is that we just don't feel that strongly about it.
"If Jesus cares about the people mocking Him, let Him smite them." Followed, of course, by the belief that God wouldn't do that. Partly because we have philosophized God's personality away, partly because we don't really believe God is there watching, anyway (except, of course, when we really need Him).

Christians do not oppose people who mock their religion. They assume that they are firm believers, and take mockery as a compliment, if anything.
Many Muslims are well aware that their religion is based on a worthless book that has no function except to oppose Christianity. It is Christianity that Muslims are afraid of- if their 'umbrella' goes, they will be exposed to Christ and his demands.
Islamic forums are very difficult for Christians to post in without 'moderation' blocking their sensible, moderate, reasoned views. They are like Catholic forums in that respect, but even worse. There are similarities in these religions. People think that they can protect themselves from the truth by huddling together and excluding all criticism.

Your conclusion is wrong We muslims will not angry if someone criticises our teaching as long as it is true. But if its comments are wrong and intentionally humiliate muslims and its teaching so it is logic if we are angry..We are a faithful and loyal followers of Islam and Islamis given by Allah the only one God.Allah is muslim God is the same with the God of Jews and Christians. So if christians insulted our God that is the same with humiliating their own God too.Muslims do not want to insult other God but also we do not want to be humiliated by other.

If you believe that Christians ignore it then you need to open your eyes (metaphorically speaking because if you're reading this then obviously your eyes are open [sorry had to spell it out for you you don't seem too observant]).

Because they lack the education to counter criticisms with anything but violence.
