The little 7 year old girl across the street had a yard sale on a Tuesday evening from 6 to 8:30 pm. She knocked and rang my doorbell 4 times asking me to come over and shop. She had toys and clothes out. She gave me a paper with scribbling saying "Yard Sale". I told her that I was in the middle of something. She needed to have it on a Saturday morning not on a week night. She was dirty as usual. This time she had dried paint on her body and in her hair. I told her to take a bath. She said " I need money. We are so poor". I asked her, "Aren't we all?" She said "Thanks anyway". This little girl is getting more weird everyday. My parents would beat the living crap out of me if I ever did such a thing. Suggestions? Opinions?

Either her parents are putting her up to begging or she is a very manipulative little girl. Many children who are manipulative are that way because they never have had anyone to take care of them; the only way they get things is by manipulating people.

I would stay away from her (as much as you can) or you will never get rid of her; she will be at your door day and night if you give her anything.

Having no money to your name is one thing and being an older women I would think that you could of handled this little 7 year old girl with more compassion.Yea yea I know your life isn't the greatest either right now,no job or whatever, but she is only 7 and to be so rude as to tell HER to take a bath is beyond me,if I were your parent I would beat the crap out of you for being so damn judgmental. My suggestion to you is,be an adult, act like an adult and the next time she knocks on your door for help try to be an angle, even if your life is Sh***.

On a normal basis, do you treat her more like a friend then a girlfriend? Do you maybe bring up topics that should be for "guys time" and not necessarily for your girlfriend. Don't get me wrong, girls like to know that their boyfriends are their friends as well (infact those make the best relationships), but they also need to feel the difference that they are the girlfriend. Don't force the affection onto her, but maybe open the door for her (car, restaurant, anywhere). Buy her some flowers every once in a while, for no reason. Let her know you appreciate her. Hold her hand when you walk, lead her into a room. Be more of a gentlemen.

ahhh She is trying to make some money.
I would have went over to her little rummage sale and bought something, anything to make her happy.
Remember kids having Lemonade stands? Of course now days I wouldn't drink it, I might buy it, then throw it away on down the road.
She isnt hurting anything from having a little rummage sale on the week-day.
It is obvious that she lacks in parental care. She needs someone to be kinder to her, hurtful attitude and words can only cause her pain, she is just a child.

Since you are broke, I would have said, Honey I would buy something if I could, but I just dont have any money right now.
And I would tell her, I hope you do well with your Sale.

You can't expect a seven year old to have fully developed social skills or knowledge of when the appropriate time to have yard sales is. Her parents might be neglecting her; she might feel a desperate need for money because she is hungry and wants to buy herself something to eat. A dirty kid soliciting money from strangers is quite suspicious. If you suspect abuse or neglect, contact the appropriate agency, and they will look into it. Another possibility is that she heard her parents talking about a financial crisis, and she is terribly worried. She might even just be lonely. Whatever the reason, you are in no position to judge, because you don't know why she is behaving that way. Anyway, she's just a kid!

Who cares.... nothing you said makes this little girl strange or implies that she isnt taken care of..
Ever heard of something called an imagination?
guess not since your parents would beat you if you had one growing up!

and shes 7 not 15... so how was you personnal hygeine at that age? were you always careful not to get paint in your hair and stay perfectly clean? im guessing no!

And kids like to make money on their own even if its only a little. it just shows that shes trying to be independent which is a normal thing for a girl her age to do...

you just sound like a judemental person who needs to be nicer to kids! or maybe you just had a bad childhood and are taking out on the neighbor girl for having the freedom you never did!

Give the girl a dollar... Wouldn't it make you feel better? If not then you are probably cold hearted and selfless. Better yet give the girl 4 quarters it would make her even happier. Go buy some crap from here damit!!

You remind me of that girl in Traveling sisterhood pants ore whatever... There is a little girl that wants to help out with the older girls filming and she keeps being men to her and telling her no, just to find out she is dieing of cancer.
