NASCAR is very entertaining.
And they don't always go in a big circle.
Sometimes they do have left and right hand turns.
Those are called road race's.
And yes, I have seen their sponsor's.
Those sponsor's are helping promote those car's, as well as advertising their products.
NASCAR isn't a big joke.
Driving in NASCAR takes a lot of skill.
Those drivers are on the track for 2 to sometimes 8 hours trying to navigate their car through 42 other car's, without wrecking.
As for an F1 car, if that driver tap's the wall, that car is done.
A NASCAR driver tap the wall, that car can be patched up and back on the track.
NASCAR driver's drift every now and then.
But that's not what they want to do.
When they do that it's called being loose.
And can cause trouble, like the back end of the car going into someone else or into the wall.
Sorry to hear that you don't like NASCAR, but maybe you really haven't given it a good chance.
Maybe you need to go to a track and watch a NASCAR cup race.
If you got there in time, you could see the whole race from start to finish.
Not just the race in bits and piece's, like with an F1 race.

As a serious motorsports fan (I follow, F1, WRC, GP2, CART, IRL, DTM, WTCC, LEMANS, MOTO GP, NASCAR, WSR and more) I was always reluctant to follor NASCAR for the reasons you stated - Oval racing is boring, the cars are slow (over 35 secs a lap slower at montreal than an f1 car), the drivers only have to turn in one direction, they dont race in the rain and the sport as a whole is not very diverse. However when Juan Montoya quit mclaren I became interested to see what the appeal is. Honestly the races are ok to watch, sometimes the yellow flags get irritating but the racing is good and these guys drive the cars pretty hard. There is overtaking aplenty and close finishes, with a variety of track types that make each race unique in terms of oval styles. Now I can be boring if your driver is out of the race, but it seems like anyone can win a race and there is more equality due to the regulations. But at the same time, I wish the cars werent so plain, they have no real connection to actual road cars other than the paint schemes and the aerodynamics look really dated and boring. The new cot is kind of a joke in terms of Aero - just look at DTM racers, those cars have crazy body kits and are probably just as fast if not faster than NASCAR on ovals and road courses alike, they should try some different regulations imo,

It's amazing how you got what few friends to agree with you. What's wrong with the sponsors now these are products and stores that people use daily and Viagra hasn't sponsored a car in years.
As for the other types of racing you mentioned here
F1-a bunch of multi-million dollar, high powered go-carts, with all kinds of electronic gizmos running the car, just because they turn right doesn't make them better drivers. It's dangerous because you tap the wall in one of those things the car comes apart like a bomb hit, oh yeah let's not forget 2 cars on the lead lap what kind of s**t is that. Oh yeah I tried to watch an F1 race, was asleep in 5 mins.
street racing- seems to me the only danger there is to that is to some person who happens to be driving down the wrong street at the wrong time. Besides what's so appealing about a damn Civic anyway, it's just a hopped up grocery getter, and most of the time the cars are just show anyway, I've blown a few away at lights with my Taurus and my Optima
drifting- I don't know about you but I've spent the last 17yrs I've been driving trying NOT to get the back end of the car to fly out when I make a turn. If I wanted a car to do that I'll dig up my old Camaro and drive in the rain. BTW when NASCAR drivers do this it's called getting loose and it's not a good thing. The entertainment in NASCAR is not the driving in a oval for 200-500 laps, it's how it's done because no 2 tracks drive the same way, you don't drive Darlington the same way you would Charlotte.
This is not to say every NASCAR race is entertaining, there are a couple that absolute snooze fests(ex.California, Kansas). BTW I happen to find the street versions of the Monte Carlo, Impala, Avenger, Charger, and Camry rather appealing, hate the damn Fusion though. As for difficulty, how easy is it to run with 42 other cars on a half mile track(Bristol,Martinsville), or a track you have to run so close to the wall that even the best drivers brush against it (Darlington), or get up to 200mph just to go into a low banked turn(Pocono), can't be all too easy else everyone would be doing it.

I can't understand where you get off saying those cars aren't appealing. I hate to inform you, but NASCAR stock cars look alot better than the over sized go karts in F1. There's alot of NASCAR's stock cars that stand out and look amazing. You won't find some better paint scheme's than in NASCAR. F1 is the joke, I don't find their cars all that safe, they drive in the rain and if they fans want to watch during bad weather, they are forced to stand in the rain. NASCAR takes care of their drivers safety and the cars are ALOT MORE safer. And if you think stock car racing doesn't require true skill, then maybe you ought to watch some NASCAR races, you will find it requires ALOT of skill.
PS- I don't know of any Lucky Charms car, and the Viagra car has been gone for a while. You obviously haven't watched NASCAR ever.

The racing event is an entertainment package. On T.V. you do not see the festive activities that go on at a race.Sure on some of the "Speed Network" shows you see the crowds and the "stages" for pre race activaties, but you non't see vendors row or the hospitality tents set up to show a sponsors product or to meet a driver.
Some of the races are set to corispond with a couonty fair or carnival. So events around the race is entertaining.TThen inside the track the on track events from quailifing to practice to the race offers various styles of entertainment.
But don't stop just on the track look at the fans.
So yes racing is entertaining.

Okay no.1. You sound like you are just into the street sceen. Which is cool for you. You have too be a paticular type of person too appreciate *Nascar*. I've had many other people talk bull about *Nascar*. But ya know dude it's doesn't bother me abit. It's cool what you like as well. But give it time and you will be cool with *Nascar* as well. You'll see!!! You do realise what it really takes too sit in that race car all those laps??? How much skill it takes too keep that car on the track??? Your wrong here it takes plenty of skill too do what they do, silly boy! You try driving at their speeds on some of the tracks they drive on. And at their speeds. And see how you would do! Do you realise each time they drive in a race they put their lives at risk?????? Just like with any hard driven sport. And yes i do call *Nascar* a sport. Or as some people like to say (A way of life)But more than anything. The dedication all those drivers have to the people out here like and many others. Who support them at every race. Unfortunately, i haven't been to an actual race yet. But, hopefully i will in the near future. It will be hella cool to me!!!

The beer and the hooters! Seriously, though. Think of each car and pit crew as a professional team and then pick your favorite team to support. Now you have a sport that doesn't have just two teams playing but 43 of them at one time. As with anything, you will learn the rules as you go. Each track has it's challenges. Some are short, some are long. Some are flat and some have high banking. I suggest you pick one driver that you might like (hint, hint Tony Stewart) and follow that team's progress. And it's a completely different experience to actually go to a race! Oh, and yes you will see beer and hooters at the races!

I love NASCAR but it's not for everyone. To me, baseball is boring. If the pitcher is any good, nobody gets a hit. How boring is that?
But also, some things don't relate well on TV. Hockey for example, it's better to be there and the same can be said for a NASCAR race.
Go Tony Stewart!!

It is - especially in light of the new car being brought in, and seeing some of the strategies coming into play. You can keep your street, open-wheel, F1 baby toys, cars that one mishap pretty much ends the race for them. (Hey Danica! Get a real ride and come to the wild side!)
Patsy - girl, get to a race! We have a small speedway near me, and I went - and it was a blast! And now - well, September 8 is at Richmond, and I will be there, on the fourth turn! WooHoo! Hubby knows *exactly* how to cheer me up!

F1 and WRC are the best and most marketable racing leagues out there. On average Nascar may get 11-15 million viewers a race while F1 will get 80million. Not even close.
WRC is getting around 30million.
Nascar fans like to see the crashes, thats all. They should take a look at WRC and maybe they would be impressed with what those drivers can do.
Montoya left Mclaren and headed to Nascar. Thank you, now we are experiencing a new era in F1 with Hamilton.
