First of all, there is no rule that there can be no "hanky panky" during war. So what you guys are saying is that no one needs to relieve stress while deployed? Just a little story for you....I was deployed from Jan 05- Dec 05, my room-mate was a lovely Specialist(we're army) who's husband was a Sergeant First Class in our unit. They were deployed together.... they're not allowed to have sex? What about the women who come off R&R leave....they're wrong too? I think some of the reactions are a bit to harsh, most women that want to duck deployments get pregnant before hand. They were having fun, relieving stress, which isn't something you can do everyday. Leave them be.

A huge number of female soldiers were returned to CONUS during Desert Shield/Desert Storm for that very reason. The vast majority of those cases were intentional.
My take is that they should be returned to CONUS and given a General Under Other Than Honorable Circumstances discharge -- they disobeyed direct orders not to fraternize while deployed. If the father can be identified, then he should also get a OTH discharge.
Mandatory BC sounds like a good idea.

When I was in Iraq as a soldier I knew three women who intentionally got pregnant in order to leave the war and I find it absolutely disgusting! I think that if you join the military you have to understand what you are getting yourself into and just because things get tough you shouldnt be able to use an innocent child just to get out of the danger...It makes all of us female soldiers that worked our butts off and risked our lives look bad. I think there should be mandatory birth control while deployed because the sex wont stop. I knew women who were doing it in porta potties and charging....it was so AWFUL!

I support the maximum punishment. I've been in country for 10 months, and haven't had sex once, so I know it's not hard. Females who get pregnant in a warzone, whether intentionally or not, cost the military a lot of money (individually) and hassle. I think they should be dishonorably discharged along with the father, but that's just not going to happen.

Men should be just as guilty as women... it's unfortunate that the women have to carry the scarlet letter.

The problem is that you won't know who the father is. God only knows whether the father may be one of the enemy. Good enough, yes?

I think it's irresponsible, and reprehensible...
These women and the men that impregnated them should be discharged without honors.
