Americans are not getting shorter. In fact they are growing, not only by height wise but also by the waist. But if Americans are ever getting shorter it would be because of lack of essential vitamins and minerals, which is replaced by junk food. The solution for getting shorter would be to eat healthier and obviously avoid junk food.

Everyone is getting shorter if they aren't growing. Usually adults will lose an inch or 2 of height due to gravity when they are in their middle ages!
Who said they are getting shorter. Women over 6 feet are common today. They were a rarity when I was growing up!

Well there is a problem with that I guess....I heard about it on the radio today.
There is one solution....enact the hate crimes legislation for GLBT people so all of us drag queens stop getting bashed. I think that the bashing of drag queens is a direct cause of why America is getting shorter. Less people wearing 9 inch heels.
On a more serious note.....bring in more Sudanese (they seem to be quite tall) and deport all the short people.
We'll be taller than the rest of these nations after enacting these policies.

According to ABC News, Americans are shorter on average than in the past and in comparison with other countries. They suggest that it could be the average person's poor diet especially during youth when people are growing. If people would eat healthy food and exercise and avoid smoking, it might make a difference and help our youth grow healthier.

There are people in America from many countries with different typical heights. White and black men and women are getting taller. If the overall average height has been brought down it is because of people from different backgrounds moving here and their heights being factored into the national average. You will see for instance that the average height of Asians is now increasing too after being in America for a while.

IF Americans are getting shorter (where's your source?), what makes that a problem that needs to be solved?

More blunders and slip-ups with human errors?
With time everyone will be moving backwards with time and all become pygmies in time.
Will look forward living in caves too.
Like those back in the past.

Stop allowing Mexicans to move to the United States. That whole nutrition article is a bunch of BS.

Send back the 12,000,000 illegals Mexicans!
If the height change isn't due to immigrants affecting the stats then it must be that Americans are so fat their weight is actually compressing them. Lose weight - get taller!

Actually, recent generations are actually growing taller. If you see shorter people, they probably are just lacking all of their needed nutrients and not being active in their exercise.
