There is no special exercise for "spot" reduction, but there is an approach. Ab crunches will tighten the muscles around the midsection. Obliques twists and crunches will firm up the side/lateral muscles.
Keep a steady routine of either walking, running, biking or treadmill to keep burning calories and shave off some waist size. The midesection will stay trimmer with a 30-60 minute routine, but don't kill yourself. Keep it at a comfortable pace so that you don't get discouraged.
Hang in there!! You are almost there!

Keep doing your cardio 3-5 times per week and also ab exercises to help tone your stomach. You can't spot reduce and just do ab exercises to flatten your tummy if you have a layer of fat covering it. So in order to have a flatter tummy you do cardio to shed that layer of fat. Don't do the same ab exercises on consecutive days. Perform different exercises each day so that your muscles will have time to recover and you'll have a less chance of injuring yourself.
Also, check out www.sparkpages.com for a calorie counter, bulletin boards, lots of articles and fitness how-to's. The site is free and I have found it to be a tremendous help in terms of motivation and new fitness ideas.
Good luck!

In order to have a flatter stomach, you need to achieve less body fat. In addition to eating less fatty foods, running is a great way to get in shape and lose fat. Crunches and sit ups are a good way to tone your abs, but not a good way to lose the fat off of your stomach. In order to achieve a cut abdomen or "six packs", I would recommend eating fruits, vegetables, foods with a lot of protein such as tuna, peanut butter etc. and running as much as possible. Know your limits but also push yourself. With a good attitude and self determination, you can achieve your goal in a few weeks to a few months, depending on your current state. Good luck!
