Unfortunately my wonderful cat just recently passed away because he got hit by a car. He survived the hit, but he could not get up, could not meow, and could not eat either. We took him to the vet and they told us to feed him with a syringe, which we put water in as well as watered down chicken baby food. We eventually had to put him down because he was suffering too much, but don't give up on your cat! The third lid just means they are upset or feeling hurt. My best advice is to bring him to a vet as soon as you can. They will be able to tell how to help him out best. If there is no vet to bring him to now, try to at least keep your cat hydrated until you can do more.
The best of luck to you and your kitty. =)

He probably developed some kind of infection. Either that or he is seriously injured somewhere that you just havent noticed. It could very well be internal injuries as well. You are right, when the nictating membrane or "third eye lid" is visible, the cat is most likely injured or sick.
If the cat is showing all of these signs and especially since he isnt eating you need to get it to a vet NOW. If it is midnight like it is over here, than first thing in the morning take the cat to the vet.
For now keep him in a warm, stress free environment, such as your room on your bed and maybe lay down next to him and take a nap, it will calm him down and make him a lot more comfortable if you are with him.

Sounds to me he got it by a dog or vehicle. I would take him to the vet, he may have something with his breathing if he can't purr, or broken bones if he is having a hard time standing. He may have serious internal injuries. I am not sure what you mean by "third lid"? If that is his eyes he may need medication to stop infections.

Please don't wait to get this cat looked at. Even if you have to take it to an emergency animal care clinic, do it, ASAP!
It's very hard to diagnose any injuries with out looking at this poor cat. But, by what you wrote, this kitty is really hurt and needs medical attention as quickly as possible.
I hope this poor cat makes it and starts to feel better soon. Just one question for you. Have you ever considered making this cat an indoor cat? I hope you will take that into consideration.
Good luck!

Time to go to the vet. He's hurt bad. I'm thinking a dog got him or he was hit by a car. Seriously, getting him to the vet as soon as possible is very important. This is beyond what you could treat at home. Look for an emergency vet if it's past business hours. Good luck!

Take him to the vet. Quite often when cats fight they end up with infections from the bites and scratches. Offer him water and broth and milk to eat. You may have to feed him from a dropper. Good luck.

goshly person, he needs to get to the vet very fast. that would make him feel much much better. to vet now! he got into a fight with another cat and got injured very badly. ignorance doesn't come in handy when it comes to life and death situations, and this is one of them. take him to the vet. they may even have to put him down if he doesn't get there fast. today isnot a goos time to be worrying about what ahaapened yesterday. find a 24-hour vet office and take him right away.

Please get him to a vet. He probably got into a fight with another cat.
Is he neutered? If he isn't, you should get him neutered. He'll be healthier, live longer, and will tend to roam less. Also, there are too many unwanted cats in the world--who knows how many litters he's fathered if he's not neutered?
Once you get him fixed up, please consider keeping him inside. Wouldn't you feel terrible if he was hurt even worse or killed because you let him outside? =(
I hope he makes a speedy recovery!

Yeah emergency vet. They are 24 hours. He could obtain serious infection... the quicker you get help for him the better it will be for him and your wallet.
consider getting him fixed..they are less likely to challenge others when they fixed....
or consider keeping him inside....

Sounds like he might have been in a fight or attacked by something and he's in pain. You can't do anything for him at home--take him to the emergency hospital. It is your responsibility to provide medical care for any pet you take in. He is suffering and that is not fair to him. Do the right thing.
